☆♡CHAPTER 1☆♡

I miss the taste of a sweeter life,

Shuichi walked into the classroom, glancing around at the other students. There was of course the familiar faces, a sweet blonde girl, Kaede, one of his best friends... a mischievous boy with purple locks, who was leaning back in his chair, named Kokichi... you couldn't miss Gonta, a large male of 6'6", who couldn't hurt a fly...

But then he spotted a girl he had never seen before. She had long dark hair, pulled into ponytails with red scrunchies. She had a red top, with a black skirt and a white star speckled bow around her collar.

Shuichi isn't usually the type to go introduce himself but she seemed mysterious and, being a detective, he couldn't help but feel curious.

"Uh, hi! I'm Shuichi Saihara, the Ultimate Detective. Nice to meet you!" He said, acting a lot more confident than he was, and honestly sounding a little like Kaede.

The girl seemed a little startled, but answered anyways. "Maki Harukawa." She said shortly glancing up at him. "Ultimate... um... Child Caretaker..."

"Mind if I sit next to you?" He asked. The easiest way to get more info is to get closer to the person. And, he'll admit it, he wanted some more friends... even though he was on good terms with most people in school, he only really talked to Kaede, Kaito and Kokichi. And even with Kokichi he was EXTREMELY nervous... but that's for a different reason...

"Knock yourself out" she said eyes flicking back to her book. The way she said it, it was more like a threat. This wouldn't be easy... He pulled up a chair, and then Kokichi glanced over.

"Whaaat? Shumai, are you ditching me?" Kokichi pouted. Of course. Shuichi usually sat with him and Kokichi, being Kokichi, obviously wouldn't like Shuichi moving away.

"It's just for the day, Kokichi" Shuichi replied. "That's too looong! What am I meant to do without my Beloved Saihara-Chan for a whole daaaay!?" He tried desperately not to blush.

"Kokichi, you'll be fine." Shuichi said, just before class started.

Shuichi got to know Maki a lot more throughout class, though it was a hushed conversation. In the end, he offered to introduce her to his friend, Kaito. She didn't seem happy about it, but agreed nevertheless.

And now they were on they're way to see him. After escaping Kokichi (and his many many questions), they were headed to the place Kaito and Shuichi usually hung out.

"Shuichi! What's up, buddy? Who's this?" Kaito shouted over from the wall he was sitting on. It wasn't that much of a distance so Shuichi waited until he was closer to answer.

"Hi, Kaito. I brought the new girl along to meet you. I hope that's okay?" Shuichi asked nervously. To his gratitude, Kaito's face split into a huge grin. "Of course it's okay! What'd ya say your name was?"

"...Maki"
