Today in science class I learned that
Charles Darwin once found this moth
with an abnormally long tongue
and after a while of searching, he found
an abnormally long flower
with nectar that only that moth could reach.
My teacher said that it's kind of funny
to think that there was this flower all along,
practically made for this moth,
just waiting to be found.
And I thought, maybe that's God's metaphor;
maybe that's His way of showing us
that everyone belongs with a certain someone.

I don't remember the rest of that class
because I allowed my mind to drift away
and I stumbled over thoughts of you.
Were we made for each other,
as the moth and its flower?
