Oblivion

Tonight I climbed onto my roof,
our roof,
and gazed into the oblivion that is the sky,
just like we used to do.

And I thought back to the good nights
the good memories we made up there, on my roof,
our roof.

But now you're gone,
as a comet that's been destroyed,
as a shooting star that's met its end,
and I'm stuck with this roof
and the memories it holds.

They tell me now that stars cross by nature,
and that people come into your life for a reason.

So I've decided
that people cross each other like stars do,
only except the stars collide inside an oblivion,
while people collide in everyday places and are left wondering if an oblivion even exists in this cruel world.
