Two days after she showed up on her doorstep, battered and bruised, Alice Cooper had done everything in her power to protect Nicolette from the man who she had to call a father. With the quiz show coming up, her cousins Betty, Cheryl, and her older sister Veronica were immersed in the world of questions. However, Cheryl Blossom had officially joined the rum business to protect her cousin and seek revenge against her father. Our Starlet, on the other hand, was debating whether or not everything he had told her about her self-worth was true.

I heard laughter coming from my father's study and when I called out for him, I saw Bret. I had arrived at The Pembrooke to pick up some of my belongings and nearly dropped the box once I saw that diplobrat's face. 
"Bret?"
"Oh, hi. I was just telling your father about how we're going to win the quiz show."
"We?" I asked, "I can't do that Betty."
"Ponytail will lose anyway." Bret sighed. I looked at him, "Well, that's one thing you're wrong about. When Betty wants something, she'll work twice as hard to get it. And, I'm already busy helping Jughead with his draft so you can see yourself out of my house before he finds out."
"Mija..."
"Daddy, this boy isn't good for business. I'm trying to help you out here. He's not professional enough for our rum."
"You're making a mistake," Bret snickered.
"My only mistake was not assuming you stalked me to find out my address." I said, "I already told you, Daddy, this boy is a safety risk. If you'll excuse me, I'm going to Betty's before Alice starts a manhunt for me. And I swear if you show up there, Bret, I'll notify the Sheriff who lives there as well. Au revoir."
Then I walked out of the study and back to the station wagon where Betty was waiting.
"Did you get it?"
"Yeah... but Bret was there."
"Son of a bitch."

"Sign this, cretin." Cheryl demanded, "Alice has no problems going live on the record of RIVW about the bruises on Starlet's neck and arms if you don't." I'd never seen Cheryl so upset in her life. I was equally as upset, "Cheryl Marjorie Blossom, I told you I'd call you later."
"I couldn't wait, cousin. Besides, cousin Betty says..."
"According to..." Bzzz...
"That son of a bitch!" I gasped, "Cheryl... I have to get back to school and stop Jughead from ruining everything."
"Mija..."
"I'll be back. I just need to set Jughead straight."
