From the moment I got home from last school year, I've either been doing things related to wedding planning - you miss so much when you're petrified for 2 months - or doing my summer work. There have been a few breaks in the monotony though. A week and a half into summer vacation, I get a phone call while making cake samples so I can force Bella to make some decision. "Hello?" I say into the phone as I wipe sweat from my forehead - it's really hot in the kitchen. "HELLO?!" I hear Ron shout from the other end of the phone. I jump and hold the phone a foot away from me. My dad, who's playing chess with Uncle Jasper, looks up at me. "I'D - LIKE - TO - SPEAK - TO - CHLOE - CULLEN." "Ron, I'm not deaf. Talk normally. Talk as if I was there in person" I say. "I don't have to shout?" he asks, this time at a normal volume. "No. It would be very exhausting if you did. You don't give muggles enough credit" I say, sitting down and preparing myself for a long conversation.
"Oh, no" Ron groans. "What?" I ask. "I called Harry a few days ago and I shouted. I may have gotten him into trouble" he says. My eyebrows furrow together. "Why would that get him into trouble?" I ask. "His Uncle answered the phone" my heart skips a beat. "What did you say?" I ask warily. "I told him that I wanted to talk to Harry and that I'm a friend from school" he says. I groan. "Ron! You know how much his aunt and uncle hate magic." I say. "Do you think I got him in a lot of trouble?" he asks worriedly. "Depends on your definition of a lot. I don't think they killed him or anything though" I say. "That's no help. I've got to go. Mum wants my help with dinner" he says. "Alright. Bye" I say and hang up. I shake my head and walk back into the kitchen.
As soon as I've finished all of my homework, my time is consumed by wedding planning. It's like pulling teeth to get Bella to make teeny tiny decisions - like picking a cake flavor or picking the color of flowers for the centerpieces when I give her limited choices - but I manage it. Towards the end of July, I get a letter from Hogwarts. This time it contains two pieces of paper. The first piece of paper contains my book list. It says:
Third Years Will Require:
The Standard Book of Spells, Grade Three by Miranda Goshawk
Unfogging the Future by Cassandra Vablatsky
Intermediate Transfiguration by Emeric Switch
The Monster Book of Monsters by Edwardus Lima
The Essential Defense Against the Dark Arts by Arsenius Jigger
The next piece of paper says:
Dear Miss Cullen:
Please note that the new school year will begin on September the first. The Hogwarts Express will leave from King's Cross station, platform nine and three-quarters, at eleven o'clock.
Third years are permitted to visit the village of Hogsmeade on certain weekends. Please give the enclosed permission form to your parent or guardian to sign.
A list of books for next year is enclosed.
Yours Sincerely,
Professor M. Mcgonagall
Deputy Headmistress
The following piece of paper is indeed a permission slip. "Mom, dad! I have something for you to sign!" I shout and head downstairs.
