As we descended the stairs, a more ominous feeling began to brew. An eerie feeling hung in the air as we reached the bottom of the stairwell. There was a door there, nothing else. But on the other side, I could hear... voices? Sean must have heard them too, because he placed his hand on the doorknob and without hesitation, flung it wide open.
Standing in the room on the other side of the door were two girls. And obviously they were startled. "Holy hell dude! Ya scared the shit outta me!" exclaimed a girl with long blue twintails, wearing a winter jacket. At the same time, the other girl jumped backwards and...hissed? And made a clawing motion? Okay then.
"You startled me, nyaa-." the other girl said sadly as she pouted, her long orange hair flowing messily around her face. She was wearing a baggy shirt with a cat on it. I can guess what her favourite animal is. I sort of hovered by the doorway as Rika and Saya flew passed me.
"Hiiiii~! I'm Rika Morimoto!! And this is Mr Cuddles~!" she shouted as she rushed into the room and up to the new girls, Saya following right behind her. "I'm Saya Miura~! Nice to meet you!"
They really were quite the pair. I kind of kept my distance. New people weren't my strength... out of costume anyways. Although Sean must have noticed my discomfort, because he gently placed a hand on my shoulder and looked down at me. "C'mon Asuka, maybe they know where the dinin' room is." he said softly. I was pretty relieved that he was so kind, I'd be freaking out on my own right now. After I gave him a small nod, we went over to the others, in time to hear Rika and Saya say their names.
Sean still had his hand on my shoulder, so he could still tell I was nervous. And once again, was my saving grace. "Sean Beasley, Ultimate Architect! And this here's Asuka Tomita, Ultimate Cosplayer!" he said to the two. I mouthed a silent 'thank you' to me, giving him small smile after.
The orange haired cat girl was the first to introduce herself. "I'm Saki Kaneshiro, nyaa~! And I'm the Ultimate Pet Rescuer! I'm gonna save all the animals out there, nyaa~!" she exclaimed as she made a small clawing gesture.
Before any of us could even respond, the other girl stuck her hand out, giving us the peace sign with a huge grin on her face. "Name's Ella Moon! Ultimate Snowboarder! Pleased to meet ya, man!" she beamed as she held her peace sign for a minute before finally lowering her arm.
Okay, so two more to add to the group. How many of us were here? And why...? I started looking around the room finally, having been distracted by the new people. And the first thing that stood out to me was a large door further into the room. I went to go towards it, but Ella stopped me.
"Oh hey! Asu! That door's locked! Me an' Saki already tried it, but nadda." Ella shouted to me, before I even completed my step. Okay, so guess that's out of the question. Which means the only other way to go was through a door opposite the large one. I walked over to it, Sean following me, and nervously placed my hand on the doorknob, giving it a slight twist. The lack of resistance told me that it was definitely unlocked, so I turned to the others.
"T-T-This d-door i-is u-unlocked..." I mumbled out as I looked at the other 4 girls. They immediately rushed over, their excited chattering overlapping each other. I really couldn't understand it, so I turned back to the door and slowly opened it.
I had a bad feeling about this, but something told me I needed to do it. So against my better judgement, I stepped into the room.
