The sound of that maniacal laughter just bounced off the walls of the eerie dining room. We all started looking around, unsure where it was coming from. But then we noticed it. In the far corner of the room was a speaker, the laughter originating from it. Eventually, the laughter stopped, and was soon replaced by a voice. "Is this thing on? Hellllo? Can you guys hear me?" the voice asked us.
Shou was the one to first respond. "No fucking shit, you're on a loudspeaker." he said while scoffing in the direction of the speaker.
The voice didn't take too kindly to that remark. "Watch your tone with me you little fuck." It said to Shou."Now, before you all meet me, there's a bit of a... test you must first accomplish. Hidden somewhere inside this mansion is a key to the front doors. Your job is to find that key. I'll be waiting outside with further instructions.Good luck, eh? Oh, and I'm giving you less than 24 hours to do this. If you're still here after 24 hours... well... you're as good as dead. Kekekeke." the voice said before the speaker fell silent.
We all just sort of stared at the speaker. So we were locked in this mansion and could potentially die. Great. I looked around the room, studying the expressions of everyone. There was a mixture of terrified, intrigued, and excited faces. Sean stepped forward, thank god, and decided to take charge. "Okay everyone! Ya heard the voice, we gotta find a key like ASAP! Let's split up." he said to everyone in the room. "How many rooms are there in here?" he asked no one in particular.
The brunette with glasses named Manami stepped forward. "On my way down, I poked my head into every room, just to check where I was. The decor of the rooms immediately stood out to me, I love Victorian Era decor. Did you know that during the Victorian Era, women were only allowed to visit others in the afternoons? If they visited any sooner in the day it was considered poor manners." she rambled on.
Shou obviously wasn't interested, and immediately snapped at her. "Can you just get to the fucking point already? How many fucking rooms are in this place?" He said to her, the annoyance clear in his voice. Kaito on the other hand was fascinated by Manami's rambling, being a Game Show Host and all. "Multiple choice question!: Why can't you show some respect to the woman who can answer that question for you? A. Because you're a dick. B. Because you're a dick. Or C. Both." Kaito spat back at Shou.
Manami stepped forward, placing a hand on Kaito's arm. "The answer is C, but please don't start with him, it's not worth it." She said to him in a soft voice. Kaito immediately relaxed a little, turning to Manami again, his huge smile plastered on his face. "So how many rooms are there then Miss Manami?" he asked happily.
"Well, upstairs there seems to be 18 bedrooms. Though, I could only get into the one I woke up in. The second floor had two large doors to a library. I noticed two other doors in there, though I'm not sure what they lead to. And on this floor, well, there's this room, and two others apparently." Manami said, pointing to the doors at each end of the room.
"So three floors... There are 18 of us, logically 6 should go check out every floor... being a group of that size will also reduce any risk factors associated with being attacked..." Takuya muttered to himself as he adjusted his glasses. Nanako, who was sitting closest to Takuya, was the only one to hear it, so she spoke up. "Criminologist guy says we should split up into groups of 6!" she shouted to everyone.
Sean immediately stepped forward, taking charge like he had been. He put his arm on my head and grinned to the group. "Instead of standin' around here all gloomy, let's get to work! So three groups of six, yeah? Well, let's figure out who goes where!"
Since no one really knew what the rooms were, no one had any particular preferences on where to look. After some discussion, we decided on the 3 groups.
Group 1 - 1st Floor: Myself, Sean, Ella, Shou, Calvin, Saya,
Group 2 - 2nd Floor: Manami, Kaito, Takuya, Nanako, Saki, Rika
Group 3 - 3rd Floor: Ryouta, Olivier, Ava, Valentin, Maya, Lila"So I guess that's it then! Let's split up and meet back here when we're done!" Sean exclaimed. He was so carefree. His attitude almost made me forget the situation we were in. I hoped the voice wasn't serious about us potentially dying... It couldn't be... Right?
The others headed out of the dining hall, leaving the six of us in the large eerie room. We looked at each other, no words being exchanged. Until Sean stepped forward as usual. "Hey, there are three rooms and six of us! So let's check the rooms out as pairs, yeah? Me and Asuka will head tooooo... that room." He said as he pointed to the door on the right side of the room. And before anyone could object, Sean grabbed my hand and pulled me with him into the darkness of the next room.
