Third Person POV:

A few moment of silence passed before the doctor decided to speak again, “What I don’t understand, William, is why this is happening to you.”

“That’s what I would like to know!” Will, who was once again sitting on the floor, complained.
Asclepius shook head, not wanting the boy to misunderstand. “That’s not what I was implying William. I was referring to the fact that this happens to Pure Blood vampires exclusively, without exception. So I’m very much confused as to why this is happening to you.”

Pure Blood vampires were descendants of the first vampire family. They were vampires that were born to that lineage, and not turned. Turned vampires could have children but they would still not be classified as pure bloods because their blood was tainted with human blood. Unfortunately, the pure bloods were all killed during the war Asclepius mentioned. Which, of course explained why the bond no longer existed.

Until now, at least.

Pure-bloods were born with some special abilities, they had more enhanced hearing than other vampires. They also were able to walk in the sun without getting hurt. Sunlight does not kill vampire, contrary to common belief. Nobody was going to randomly burst into flames when they go out in the sun. It did, however, cause a lot of irritation to the skin. It was bad enough that few minutes in the sun could give you a really bad, really painful sunburn. Will himself had never tried it, having learned from the time Cecil dared Lou-Ellen to stay in the sun for five minutes. She tapped out after three, her skin was completely red and she could barely get herself to the clinic, where she had to stay for half a week. So yeah not happening. Since neither Will nor his father were pure-bloods, there was no logical reason as to why this was happening to him.

The prince wasn’t exactly complaining about having a soulmate. It actually saved him a lot a trouble. He didn’t have to go through the whole crush, ask out (possibly get rejected), date process. Well technically he did. But it was going to be a lot easier. That also answered the question of who to ask out and if they were compatible. It was his soulmate, they were made for each other, literally.

He knew his father would have a problem with his mate being male. The same sex couples we had in our coven were few and far between. It was one of the few coven that allowed it. And by allowed, it simply meant they were not exiled if they were discovered. The king didn’t necessarily support them, he simply didn’t kill them on sight like most other covens would. The king didn’t like them, just tolerated them enough to let them exist. But if he found out that his own son was with another boy, he was would probably declare mass slaughter on all the homosexuals in the coven for ‘turning’ his son. Will himself didn’t have a sexual preference, having never thought of either sex that way. Though having grown up with the idea that he had to be with a woman impounded into his brain, it might take some getting used to.

His mate being human didn’t bother him either. He liked humans. He liked all species but humans were by far the most fascinating. Having a human mate would be fun. The only problem would be trying to deal with the delectable scent of his blood, every minute of the day. But he could deal.

The fact that he was a particularly captivating human didn’t hurt either. His eyes wandered to the human in question at the thought, letting them roam over his sleeping mate. His now washed, much healthier looking hair was in disarray, the white background of the sheets contrasting with his black hair, giving him an innocent, angel like aura. His eyelids, which Will knew hid the most beautiful pair of chocolate brown eyes he’d ever seen, fluttered slightly before stilling once again. A soft sigh escaped his parted, now pink, lips as he changed to a more comfortable position, then settled back into a peaceful slumber. His gaze moved to his neck and chest. A month in the hospital seemed to have been long enough, as the bandages that covered most of his self were no longer present. This, however, let Will see the marks that were left. He didn’t know if they would eventually heal over but he hoped they would, for the sake of his angel. The rest of his body was now covered, but Will could see that the boy had gained a bit of weight. He was still far too skinny, his ribs still poked out of his sides, but he didn’t look starved.
