Requested by Anon: Let me know if this is too odd or specific but before Bruce Wayne's parents die and his s/o and they have depression headcannons? Like they have little motivation to even get out of bed, their schedule is always wack, they unconsciously isolate themselves so often etc. How would he react? What would be his 'solutions'? What would he say? Maybe he calls in the morning? Helps keep track of meds? I'm interested in what you think. Of course I completely understand if you're not comfortable writing for this

A/N: It’s totally okay anon. I tried to portray things as realistically as I know how, but please let me know if I’ve made any glaring offenses. Hope you like it!

1. Bruce would probably have some trouble understanding at first. He’s familiar with sadness, and numbness, and feeling bone tired, but no, not the severity mental illness.

2. (He does know something though: How much he loves you.)

3. Once he knows the name, he’ll try to research it. He’s not very good at it, but he wants to know how to help you. Probably enlists Selina’s help without naming names.

4.At first, unfortunately, he’s in a “fixing” mindset. His first reaction would probably to give you a good old fashioned kiss, because his spit will make you feel better, right?

5. Yeah, that doesn’t work beyond making you feel broken.

6. Mostly, after that, he tries to help by being there.

7. He’ll visit on the days you feel like you physically cannot get out of bed. Tell you that your friends do want to see you and do miss you. But if you can’t get up, that’s okay too. No one is mad at you, and no one’s disappointed in you.

8. Or maybe taking a shower? You’re not feeling up to that? That’s alright. Why don’t you try washing your face? Or he can prepare a bath, if you want.

9. He’d try to offer steps for most things, I think. If you’re not up for something, just take a step back. Any little bit counts.

10. Bruce read somewhere that cats help with depression. Now, his dog Ace ( a Batman comic reference) , isn’t exactly a cat, nor are the benefits he remembers entirely correct, but he’ll still bring Ace with him to visit.

11. His fur is the softest thing imaginable. When you pet him, your fingers sink into the pink tangles. His purr is a low rumble you can feel just as much in your chest as in the way your hand shakes. Might as well call him serotonin producer.

12. Bruce is also focused on making sure you eat. He’ll try to bring things more on the healthy side that you like, along with a donut from a donut shop. He won’t leave till you take one bite of something.

13. He’d be a little shocked when you try to push him away. He’d be hurt too, yes, but he’s the type to push that down to deal with later. Not a healthy trait, but moving on. He won’t make you interact with him or anything like that, but he’d keep trying to reach out to you. Let you know he really cares about you and wants to see you.

14. If it’s been a few days without contact he’ll begin to get worried. If an episode of this lasts more than a week he’d probably break into your room to try to help.

15. Bruce has a pretty tight schedule, so if you’re the type to send 3 am depression memes he’d probably miss them. When he does go to bed he’ll probably send a goodnight text to you in hopes you’ll follow his lead. Not really relevant, but he definitely overuses emojis.

16. I do think Bruce would regularly remind you to take your medication.

17. He’d leave little tape recorders  beside your bed.

18. He normally tries to visit IRL, but if he can’t (typically for Batman related reasons) he’ll leave those recorders behind instead. Little motivating messages, or simply nice things.

19. Bruce understands he can’t just love away your problems. He knows there will just be bad days, really bad days. But he wants to be there for you, and will try his best to be.
