Hajara POV:
Time was running fast and we were running with it. My kids were growing up rapidly, Abu Hurairah was already one and taking his first steps. I had already moved out few months ago, because living with my brother in law in the same house and wearing abaya and hijab wasn't that easy all the time. After encouraging Yusuf about my situation, he happily agreed. I knew he hated living with his mother since she treated him like her baby while he thought 'that was a bad impression' on his kids. He hugged me without a second thought and did a victory dance like that wasn't childish at all.
Settling in my own house was fine, but things still felt empty without Sarah and Huzaifah. Being in my aunts house, we all shared our chores and helped one another, but living alone made me take all the responsibilities of the house. Not that I minded or anything.
"Mommy, I want to buy the chocolate. Please!" Hawa pouted.
"Nah baby, chocolate is unhealthy!" I scolded. Yes, I was your 'Always eat healthy' type of mom, and if I had to, I'd sneak in spinach in your brownies if you weren't looking.
"Please mom, please mom, please mom, please!" She begged, reaching over for the chocolate.
I sighed in annoyance, "Nope."
"Come on, just let her have some chocolate, your no fun!" Yusuf scowled. "Daddy will buy it for you, he's amazing remember?" He threw a chocolate bar in the cart and Hawa's face instantly brightened up with happiness.
"Why do you always have to spoil the kids?" I whispered fiercely.
"One chocolate bar won't do anything." He explained, rolling his eyes.
"Is that Sarah, I see?" I squinted my eyes, "And .... Benyamin?" I didn't wait for him to answer before running to my sister to give her a piece of my mind.
Well actually, that will have to wait since my favourite nephew comes first. "Huzaifah!" I yelled loudly, running towards him with a thrill of excitement.
Huzaifah abruptly turned around at the sound of my voice and shooted the widest smile I have ever seen. "Aunty!" He screamed with surprise, jumping on me without another word.
"Sis, how are you?" Sarah smiled, sensing my presence. I noticed Benyamin walking away to his brother leaving us two alone.
"So, how is life going? How's school?" I asked my nephew, pinching his adorable cheeks.
"Great!" He beamed. "Oh.... is that Hawa?"
"Yup... You wanna go say hi to her?" I patted his tiny head, messing up his combed chestnut hair.
"Yeah!" He jumped up excitedly, before running to his beloved friend. I knew that the more I let them stay with each other, they will develop more memories. Maybe this was their last time seeing each other. Maybe!
"So... Sarah, you need to tell me something?" I frowned bossily, tapping my fingers impatiently on my arms for her to answer even though I knew the answer already.
"No of course not!" She denied guiltily observing the apple in her hand.
"I thought I was your sister, your closest friend?" I felt betrayed, my sister was hiding the biggest news from me.
Sarah looked up, "Ok gosh, I don't like telling anyone about my pregnancy, I didn't know myself until Benyamin told me. You know in most relationships, the mother tells the father when they are expecting, right? Yeah... I'm the father and Benyamin just dropped the news of our next baby. Pshh!" She did an immitation of an explosion.
I laugh at her idiotic imagination. "Sometimes, I wonder how Yusuf and Benyamin came from the same family. Yusuf is way different person than his brother." I wondered out loud, comparing our husbands. "Careless and I have a feeling Abu Hurairah will follow his footsteps."
