Benyamin POV:
Yes, I am alive.
Long story short, I was taken as hostage by the Germans because they found some use of me so they spared my life and I was forced to fight the Americans from the Germans side. The fight was tough, I got wounded several times but luckily I escaped after two years, technically last year.
I made my way to New York with my friend, Mike. But I couldn't get in Canada without my passport or any sort identification. So I stayed in New York for eight months until I had enough finances to enter Canada.
Therefore, I lived with my friend Mike for the time being and we both decided to make our way to Canada when the time was right. We moved a month ago to our final destination and I got a job in a Museum because it paid me well. With that money and Mike's cafe job we paid off our bills and rents.
I have always wanted to attend University in person but now with a heavy schedule was not the right time for that because I couldn't afford it. I don't know where in Canada my family lived, but I had a strong feeling that they were somewhere in Toronto since it was well known city.
"Yo, you gotta get yourself a girlfriend and start a family. You're already what twenty now?" Mike said playfully punching me on the arm, snapping me out of bubble of thoughts. My realization had finally dawned on me that I was walking with Mike with a long mournful silence engulfing us. My eyes were trained on the snow falling on the ground carelessly while my mind roamed in another world.
"No, already have one," I whispered thinking of Sarah. Girlfriend or wife, she was my women. Same thing. Inshallah by now she had given birth to my child hopefully and lived somewhere here in this city. I was sure she was pregnant because of her daily ongoing vomits for a month and the slight baby bump that had me predicting that she was indeed carrying a child. I wondered how she took the news when I broke reality to her. Although I tried looking for her when I came to Canada, even her number... but found no luck.
Mike looked at me with surprise, "Are you serious? How come I never knew?" He tilted his head, staring right at my face with intensity.
"She lives in Canada, that is all I know."
"Yeah, yeah I know. That is why I am telling you to find one. There are many girls here, you just gotta pick one."
"No I'm serious. My wife moved here when I was seventeen and I already have a child by now, I hope. The kid is three by now." I said thinking deeply. Does my child look like me or like Sarah?
Mike gaped at me, taking his time to register this information. "Wife? How old are you man?" He nudged me with his arms.
"I'm twenty, got married at seventeen and she was sixteen. I know that was early but I don't regret it." I smiled.
"Wow, she's nineteen by now right?" Mike pondered, looking down.
I nodded. "You can go look for her in Universities or colleges around here."
"We'll that's a great idea but I don't think she went to university cause... she didn't really care about her studies when we were younger. There's like a fifty percent chance she's going there but I'll still check those places out anyway. Plus she has a child to take care of, I'm not so sure if she continued with her studies." I breathed.
Sarah POV:
My son was finally a three years old young man. I was just awed by how fast he was growing up, time was running and he was running with it not skipping a beat.
Right now, I couldn't wait for my classes to be over, I just wanted to meet Huzaifah. He invaded my brain and my thoughts drifted to my son continuously as my professor lectured us without taking a momentary break for a breath intake.
