Lance's POV
We've pulled off the twisting road and onto a dirt track that makes the coach shake and shudder. It's dark and all I can see are the leaves of the hedgerows illuminated by the headlights, each one illuminated for a second then vanishing.
Shiro spent the day going around with Pidge looking for somewhere for us to stay whilst we raided a small village shop and it's local area.

"I just need to open the gate"
"Why'd you not just leave it open if you knew we were coming back?"
"I dunno, I just didn't."

About 30 seconds later Shiro's back, the tips of his ears slightly red from the cold, his breath coming out in clouds.

Gravel crunches as we pull in and this time Matt gets out to close the gate.

Where we're going is shrouded by a cold mist, and we have to continue in the car along the track for a further 15 minutes to get there.

"We're there"

It's even darker than before, but the light from the coach shows the front porch of a house.
Steps go up to a door with a knocker that catches the light and glows dully. The door is ajar, presumably from Pidge and Shiro arriving earlier.

As I step out, the temperature of the air really hits me. As I inhale each breath is almost sore in my throat and tastes slightly metallic.
Frost crunches as we walk over to the porch.

"There are 4 bedrooms, a joined kitchen and living room, there's a basement, the toilets don't work cause there's no water supply but there're 3 of those anyway. There's also an attic but it's like a metre and a half high so it kinda sucks."

"Also check this, they've got a solar panel, don't know what we can use it for but we got one."

We all set up in the living room to sleep, and we drag a mattress down from the ground floor bedroom, which we then lay Keith on.

When we were running to the van, we lost Keith. Pidge and Matt made it back to the van and he just wasn't behind them.
I ran along the side of the road tryna work out where he'd gone and after 30 or so seconds he was there, sprinting, flat out with a corpses so close behind him they could lick his heels.

In the van he collapsed with his head bleeding and we drove around tryna find somewhere to stay.
We drove down a narrow lane with the van and almost got stuck, so we sent shiro, Pidge and hunk walking down to see what was there, making noise on the way to lure out any undead fucks.
As it was getting dark they came back saying they'd found an ideal farmhouse, and that's were we are now. Fucking freezing and huddled in the living room trying not to shit ourselves with fear and go to sleep.

Keith's POV
I woke up this morning, my head throbbing and wrapped, and my vision blurry as shit.
Sitting up I almost vomited, and I was quickly noticed and prescribed with pillows to prop me up, so I was effectively lying down at a different, more vertical angle.
Over the day we guessed, we managed to work out with our combined medical intellect of 0 and the aid of a 'first aid for hikers' book that I'd fractured my skull, just above the temple.
We kinda guessed that it could've been a worse fracture, because there was no bone sticking out, but it is very fucking painful; no longer bleeding but surrounded with bruising and swelling, that hunk poked and almost got a hit to the face for.

Im frustratingly helpless, sitting here, nope lying here on a fort of pillows going slowly insane. I can barely stand up because I'm hitting with so much dizziness and an urge chuck my guts, that I finally understand seasickness, but I managed to wobble to the bathroom in the evening.

I think I fucked up my head when I fell, even though it's unsurprisingly quite a blurry memory, but I was carrying matts bag aswell and I think a corpses hand caught on a strap, and pulled me down. I'm pretty sure that when I hit my head, but because we put layers of newspaper around our arms and legs (not the joints so we could move), i didn't get bitten or scratched by any of the bastards. it was pure luck that I wasn't bitten anywhere else, and then I stumbled up and half run, half fell to the van where I apparently passed out.
And now I'm lying down. Very bored, feeling sick, but with too much energy from doing nothing to go to sleep like everyone else, who spent the day checking out the house and barricading with anything they could find.
