After a few days in the hospital, I was finally able to go. I was so excited; we were so close to finding my mom!
"Come on Guy- can we leave yet?" I groaned.
"No, first I need to make sure we have enough bandages for your leg."
"You have enough for a whole army."
Most of my cuts had healed, except for the one on my leg. Luckily, the nurses said if it was even just a little bit deeper or wider, I would've needed stitches. Guy said it was more of my luck.
Although, it was still going to take a while for it to heal. But luckily the nurses taught me how to change it properly. Guy had been fussing over me for the past few days, even though I was fine.
Guy stuffed a few more rolls into his briefcase.
"Do you need my help walking?"
I shook my head,"No- I can do it."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes Guy, I've been sitting around for days. I'm positive I'm ready."
Guy sighed,"If you say so. Just be careful."
I grabbed my briefcase, and carefully put both of my feet on the ground. I gasped a little as I limped towards the door.
"So, where to next briefcase buddy?" I asked.
"I bought two boat tickets to Dewsbury, I thought it'd be better if we didn't take a hot air balloon this time," Guy answered, still watching me walk carefully.

I put my hand on Sam's back for support, I was afraid any moment he'd fall. Although Sam kept insisting his leg was fine, it didn't look like it was. Maybe I was just over examining it, but still. I was worried.
Whenever I thought of what Hector had done to Sam, I got angry, I wish I could've returned the favor if only the police left me alone with him for a few minutes.
At least he was in their custody now, we were safe. He was never going to hurt Sam again.
Sam excitedly looked up at the huge boat,"Woah- that's the biggest boat I've ever seen!"
I couldn't help but slightly smile at him. Sometimes I'd catch myself just randomly looking at Sam and smiling like a dummy. I'm sure he thought I was a creep. I just couldn't help myself. It felt like there wasn't a single moment where I wasn't thinking about him.
"Slow down- you might hurt your leg," I reminded Sam.
"My leg is perfectly fine."
"Your leg is NOT perfectly fine, Sam."
Sam giggled,"Stop being such a worry wart."
When I booked the tickets, there was only one more room left, so Sam and I had to share. Which wouldn't have been a problem if there were two beds. My cheeks got hot just thinking about it... no, no, no, I would sleep on the floor.
Sam didn't seem to notice my awkwardness; he was too busy looking through the room service menu.
"Guy, Guy! Look!" Sam flipped to a page that was completely dedicated to green eggs and ham.
I smiled,"Well, I guess it couldn't hurt..."
Sam squealed excitedly.
-
I patted my belly, green eggs and ham really do taste great anywhere. I started thinking about my mom again. I wondered what she looked like...what she sounded like even... I grabbed the egg carton from my briefcase, rubbing my thumb on it. I couldn't wait to see her.
