Taming A Dragon

First Encounter

I walked towards the poké mart with an empty backpack on my back. My mother had asked me to collect some ingredients for our dinner tonight which I didn't mind since she was cooking curry. I opened the door and bumped into someone knocking their bag out of their hand. "Oh my! I'm so sorry!" I ushered as I reached to pick up their bag. The other person did the same and our hands brushed against each other. I flinched and looked forward meeting the teal coloured eyes of a boy my age. They were a beautiful colour and I felt myself become lost in them. I realized how close we were and I stood up abruptly shaking my head embarrassed.

"I-I'm sorry" I mumbled again staring at the ground. 

"Hey don't worry about it, happens to everyone" the boy smiled and winked.

I widened my eyes and began tugging my french braid. "Um thank you, have a nice day" I smiled and walked past him quietly. I walked  along the aisles and began to collect the items on the list mum had given me. After gathering them all I walked over to the cashier to pay for them. I walked outside relived I didn't run into anyone this time.

I heard shouting and noticed a Mudsdale pulling a cart was running around in a frenzy. Some people were trying to calm it down but something must have spooked it to a large extent as it was shrieking and running quickly. Suddenly its direction turned towards me and my eyes widened. My legs stood frozen as I watched the large beast and cart rush towards me at a quick pace. The horse took a sharp right to avoid me but the cart behind it was about to be swung at me with a mighty force.

Suddenly I was being grabbed and felt my back hit the ground roughly. I winced at the sudden pain and opened my eyes to meet two worried teal ones. He was on top of me breathing heavily from the adrenaline that must have been rushing through his veins. "We have got to stop doing this" he joked and erupted into a fit of laughter. I looked away smiling at his joke feeling my cheeks heat up from our position. 

The boy stood up and held out his hand. "I'm Raihan, what's your name?" he smiled.

"I'm Mugi" I mumbled as I took his hand. He pulled me onto my two feet and had a smug look on his face. 

"Well then Mugi, you must be more careful, you could have been seriously hurt" he lectured and I couldn't help but crack a smile.

"All right dad" I grinned and he narrowed his eyes but kept his smile.

He walked over to my backpack that was on the ground and picked it up brushing off the dust. He handed it to me. "Thank you" I nodded taking it from him and placing it back onto my back.

"You're welcome Mugi" he beamed. I felt my stomach erupt into butterflies upon hearing my name leave his lips. "I'll see you around" he winked and began to walk away. I stared at him for a moment and shuck my head. What was wrong with me today? Where did this boy come from? I have never noticed him before. I walked home clutching the straps of my backpack firmly until I walked through the front door to be greeted by our Yamper.

I packed away the ingredients mum wanted into the fridge and carried Yamper up to my room. He jumped onto my bed and cuddled into my pillow as I got changed into my pjs. I undid my braid and fell backwards onto my bed letting out a large sigh. My mind couldn't stop thinking about the boy with the teal coloured eyes. There was something about him that kept him on my mind. Maybe it was due to the fact I had never really spoken to people my age. Maybe it was due to the awkwardness related to our first encounter. I wasn't sure. 

"Yamper what do you think?" I asked and smiled when I noticed he had fallen asleep. "Taking my bed as usual" I muttered shaking my head. I sat beside him and began reading my book attempting to push the boy out of my head but it was impossible. I hoped that maybe we would meet again and perhaps..maybe..become friends.
