It's my first time painting on a phone case, so-
Anyways, I decided to do Mao Mao because that's what I've been into recently and it's honestly one of the best shows I've ever seen.
I will fight you on that.
Hazbin is my second favorite show.
My friend, who's normally the kinda guy who ignores you when you talk about something he isn't too interested in or just straight up tells you how much he doesn't give a fuck about it,  (you know who you are) let's me talk about Mao Mao because apparently it's the happiest I've been at school for a while so, clearly, this show has some positive effects on me.
I think what makes Heroes of Pure Heart so great is because the characters are all really relatable.
Badgerclops is the guy who doesn't stop eating, has some serious insecurities, and is relatively chill.
Adorabat is a five year old who wants to be like her heroes when she grows up.
Mao Mao is an insecure mess of self-loathing, hidden behind a mask of confidence and cockiness.
I relate to Mao Mao the most, honestly. It's why he's my favorite. He pretends like he doesn't give two fucks what you think or say about him, but really, he's always worrying about his image in public and he never thinks he can be good enough.
Mao Mao never had a great relationship with his father, and, honestly? Neither did I.
I mean, I never even met the guy, for starters. I don't know his name or what he looks like... all I know is that he was an asshole, according to my mom.
I think... father's day used to be the hardest time of my life when I was younger.
All these kids were making stuff for their father's and I would just sit in watch. Someone would come up to me, saying something along the lines of; "why aren't you making anything? Don't you wanna show your dad how much you love him?" And I don't think..... anyone ever really thought about the possibility.... that I might not have a dad....
And I can see Father's Day being a struggle for Mao Mao as well... he didn't have a great relationship, his father ever only complimenting him once in his childhood from what we've seen on the show.... honestly, Shin Mao complimenting Mao Mao's outfit is the ONLY time we see Shin being supportive of his son so far.
Imagine having to make something for a parent who you feel doesn't actually love you at all because that's what people want you to do....
Mao Mao learning to improve himself as he goes on in life really is something important to me.
Honestly, the only way to become a legendary hero is to know who you are first. Only then can you finally reach your destination.
And even then, there's always more you can find out about yourself.
I think that Mao Mao's much closer to becoming a legendary hero than he thinks he is...
He may be a fictional cat, but he's a hero to me.
Sounds cheesy as hell, I know, but... when you're struggling with similar things to a fictional character who's getting better and improving themself constantly, I think that's a better hero to have than no hero at all.
So, really, this is a thank you to Parker Simmons for creating such an amazing show. It's helped me a lot more than even I expected.
And if you haven't watched Mao Mao before, I suggest checking it out. The episode "Small" has to be the episode that made me get the most emotional. like, honestly, that hit home—

And I guess the newest episode "Mao Mao's Nakey", too. It may be hilarious, but damn, those insecurities hit kinda hard—
