The next morning, Oryakil will jump awake. She had tried not to fall into a deep sleep, just in case her insight of Jarox were false. He could have easily made a quick and easy kill. As she took in a breath, the house smells of morning breakfast. She hummed before pulling herself to her feet, adjusting her jacket before walking out. Jarox was hunched over the kitchen counter.
"Good morning." She hummed[ Perception-18]. He turned around at the sound, then smiled.
"Oh hello! You will have to excuse me, I've never had a guest before, so I went a little crazy..." He gestured to the table, a wide display of fruits like berries were placed in a random bowl or cup-like ornaments. There was a loaf of freshly steaming bread, and from what she could see, some pancakes as well.
"Wow, you really did..." She took in everything.
"I ran out early this morning to gather everything." He smiled.
"Oh, you didn't have to run to town to get me ingredients for a special breakfast." She hummed with a smile.
"Oh no, I didn't go to the town... I've never been to the town before..." He shook his head.
"I have a strawberry plant in my garden. I know where the blueberries grow. Then I grounded the grains, also in my garden, and made flour. I found a recipe book years ago, I think a traveler lost it, but I've never tried it before." He moved a clay-like plate to the table. It was uneven, but durable.
"That makes me feel even worse." Oryakil giggled. "I'll clean up for you since you did so much work." He waved, then gestured for her to sit.
"Nonsense. I really enjoyed it! Besides, you should have a healthy, big meal before traveling." He hummed taking a bite[ Charisma-17]. He chewed slowly, surprised it actually came out good. Oryakil shrugged taking a bite.
"Wow!" She giggled eating a little faster.
"Where are you heading off to now?" He will ask, after a moment of eating in silence.
"I don't know, maybe to the next town see what hero like work I can do for them." He gave her a large smile.
"You will do great." She stared longingly for a moment.
"Why don't you come with me? It seems lonely out here, by yourself." He will stare, eyes locked for a moment.
"I've never left my forest before... People here already assume me to be a monster... what would make the outside world any different?" His voice lowers.
"Well, it's different out there. There are cities with scarier monster then you..." She caught herself. "I mean... I don't mean." He smiled, waving it off.
"I don't know..." He sighed, letting it fall silent. She finished her breakfast and allowed him to carry the dishes to the table.
"Then I guess I should leave." Orykil will stand. "You can come with me. It's different out there." She tried once more.
"I hope you know you can always come and visit... My door is always open." His voice was softer now, she nods moving towards the door. He will follow and as he steps out, his horns will thunk the top of the door frame. He chuckled and tilted his head to walk out.
"I will walk you to the forest line if that is okay?" Oryikil will smile and nod. As they were about to come to the forest edge, his cabin still in sight.
They both pause, a feeling rumbling low in their chest. They paused, exchanging looks. As they looked to the other side of the field, they assume they were under mind control, as the sky before them seemed to shift, as if someone was pushing a pin through the other side. Jarox stepped in front of Oryikil in a protective way. The rumble in their chests eased when the sky seemed to ripple. A figure, nearly on fire spirals out of the sky, crashing hard into the ground. The impact cratered the earth as the figure skid to a stop, covered in dirt.
"Oh my gosh..." Oryikil push passed Jarox who wasn't far behind. They came to the edge of the crater, looking down.
"What is it?"[ Perception 6] Orykil searched, unable to see the boy covered in the dirt. Jarox rushed[ Perception- 16
Athletes- 27] down, not losing his footing in the loose dirt. The boy was small, not moving. He gently uncovered the boy, checking his pulse[ Medicine-17].
"He's alive... but let's get him back to the cabin..." He gently scoops him in his arms. Oryikil gasped seeing the boy now.
"He's the one that fell from that..." Her voice shallowed as she followed in a rush. The boy was laid on the bed that was originally made for Oryikil.
"He will be okay..." they both took in [ Perception,17 and 23]the boy's appearance. He had pure white skin and hair. His lips were light pink. His clothes, that were now ripped, they were black, with white trimming. A bow tie seemed to be etched into his skin. Oryikil will lean forward, using her thumb to move his upper lip out of the way to expose two small fangs. The boy took a large breath, shifting his head a little.
"Let's let him be..." Jarox mentioned, standing to his full frame. As he leaves, he moves to a shelf, pulling off a Lute.
"What's that?" She asked with a smile.
"I'm just going to help him feel a little better..." He smiles sitting outside the door, that was still cracked a little. He starts playing a tune.[ Song oof rest] Oryikil sits beside him to listen.
"That sounds nice." She smiled, he returned it, glancing down to her.
"You might want to head out before it's dark..." He mentions, she will shrug.
"I think I will stick around. I want to make sure he will be okay...
Night fell, and the two had fallen asleep. Oryikil had fallen asleep on Jarox's bed. Jarox had returned to playing his lute, but had also fallen asleep along the wall. The next morning both will wake. Not remembering, both will jump up, staring for a moment before moving into the bedroom.
"It's empty!" Oryikil gasped.
"Where did he go?" Jarox sounded more worried than anything. They turned out to stomp into the grass land[ Perception16- and 16]. Both instantly looked over to the crater hole, rushing over. Even with Jarox's length, Oryikil was able to keep up well[ Acrobatics- grit 28]. As they came to the edge, dust and dirt are being thrown around. The boy was gasping and breathing hard as he dug through the dirt in panic.
"Hey, you've taken really hard hit... You shouldn't exert yourself too much.[ Persuasion 4]" The boy didn't even seem to hear Jarox and kept digging. Oryikil hopped down into the dirt to set her hand on his shoulder. Trying to calm him. He snapped around, his eyes wide with panic. He didn't say any words, just breathed heavily and started patting the top of his head. As she sat below with the boy, she started trying to figure it out his panic. She started to gaze[ Perception- 15], in looks or maybe a hat. In the distance, towards the start of the crater incline, there was a black spot half-buried in the dirt.
"Are you looking for something? Is that it?" She will point towards the spot, making the boy look. He gasped, running up the slope, throwing himself on the ground to start digging out the object. Both gasps as the dirt uncovered the looks[ Perception- o-21- J-17] of a black pseudodragon. Jarox sucked in watching the boy pick up the limp body, moving it over his head and cheer. He frowned towards Oryikil.
"Hmm?" She asked subtly. He shook his head, knowing[ Medicine- crit 21] the dragon was no longer alive. Still, the boy paraded happily, reaching into his pocket, he pulled out what looked like some seeds and dried berries, holding it up to the dragon's mouth, letting the bits fall to the ground. Then he patted its head.
"So, what's your name?" Oryikil will ask, forcing a smile. The boy will stop, taking in the two beings for a moment. It seemed like his mouth tried to move for a moment, but he was unsuccessful. He kneeled down, using his long claw of a finger. It was then that Jarox noticed[ Perception-22] that his fingers were black and long, like claws. He traced a word into the ground, the others circling too read it better.
"Crwoan..." Jarox said, but pronounced[ Intelligence- 8] it wrong. Crwoan frowned moving under and began writing again. Croo-un. "Crwoan..." He tried[ Intelligence- 15] again, this time getting a thumbs up from the boy. Jarox smiled.
"Well it's nice to meet you Crwoan, I'm Oryikil, and this is Jarox." Oryikil smiled.
