It was yellow when I met you.

Yellow like the sunflower you picked to cheer me up when you found me crying on a bench over the death of my grandmother, my best friend. Like saving my day out of nowhere, reminding me of how she always smiled whenever she saw sunflowers when we went for a walk. Reminding me of the kindness and grace her heart carried, just like yours did, too.

Yellow like the sun I always drew at the corner of my sheet when I was still a little kid. Humming a song I didn't know the lyrics of, smiling from ear to ear. Like one little thing that changes everything on a picture, turning it into something positive.

Yellow like the light that surrounded me and made me see everything clear again. Like finding things I used to love, finding things I thought I forgot or just couldn't do anymore; finding the happiness that I thought had left me.

It was yellow when I met you.
