She is a coward. He is fearless.
He had seen many demons but he didn't quiver. She had seen a demon yet She failed her mission.
He is the pillar. She is the Healer.
(Y/n) hesitated to cover the white cloth over the bodies of the former Demon Slayers. This is by far the most gruesome that (Y/n) ever encountered being a part of the Demon Slayer Corps. Staring at one of the corpses that have been sliced limb by limb, she can't do anything but to pray for their journey through the after-life. With a heavy sigh, she began doing her mission as a Kakushi.
She is nowhere to be compared over the Demon Slayers. She didn't have the power to decapitate a mere demon who didn't have anything to do but to eat people. If she were to say back then that she will become a Healer than a Demon Slayer, the old-(Y/n) will just laugh and will challenge the person who told her so. Funny how she is now a Kakushi because of her incompetent.
"I didn't think that a lower demon will be here and with a family." Giyuu stands beside the (H/c) kakushi. She looked at Giyuu, inspecting him from head to toe. He seemed fine. "Maybe he became lonely and wants a family to be with." (Y/n) smiled, "Fancy seeing you here, Giyuu"
"Demons shouldn't be feeling human emotions if they need to kill and eat our kind, (Y/n)." The Kakushis were now retreating the mountain and that Oyakata-sama requested the Kamado siblings and the Hashiras.
His statement did leave you two in silence. It was one of (Y/n)'s weakness to show compassion. Human or not. Because of her own kindness, she hesitated to kill the liar demon, and if, without the black-haired man, she would be dead. And after that incident, she did the best thing that she could come up-- to step down like a demon slayer and become kakushi for the greater good. Fortunately, the incident brought the ex-Demon Slayer and the pillar together and become friends over the past three years.
"I'm really thankful that you saved me before." (Y/n) said as the two walked out of the mountain. He nodded and walked beside the (h/c) girl. With a comfortable silence, She smiled and let her thoughts drown her.
It was nice to have a person with your side after these gruesome events. (Y/n) was very thankful to have him as her friend, her savior, and also if fate granted one of her wishes, her lover. Her face became red as the thought crossed her mind. She didn't want to admit that she was also a hopeless romantic.
It was then she noticed Shinobu talking to the kakushis about the condition of the thunder boy that was slung across the shoulder of the other kakushi. Shinobu noticed the pair and with one nod she dismissed the two kakushis. She walked towards the pair and had a conversation with them. (Y/n) only listened as the two did the talking. Contrary to popular belief, Giyuu is not lonely. (Y/n) acknowledged the girl as one of Giyuu's friend who always teases the poor guy.
And as bitter as it sounds, She also acknowledged the girl to become Giyuu's significant other.
With those thoughts lingers her mind, she starts to painfully cough every now and then. Though self-diagnose is not recommended (but she did), she suspects that she caught the disease called 'Hanahaki.' It was also then confirmed by one of the kakushi, Goto, that she caught the disease. It was really a pain in the ass to shut his mouth. She remembered that Goto was eager to tell Giyuu but (Y/n) argued that it'll become a burden to bear to someone who is important to the Demon Slayer Corps. Goto cast a worry glance to the (h/c) girl and he did keep his promise to never tell a single soul.
"Oh, (Y/n)-san thank you for searching Giyuu for us. He became a cry-baby after I told him that he was not that popular and have no friends to talk to." Shinobu giggled and looked at the black-haired guy with a somewhat teasing smile.
"Whatever." Giyuu then left the two without a trance. "Oh, He's now grumpy." The kakushi also giggled. "Thank you for assisting Shinobu-san. We can take it from here." (Y/n) smiled and looked at the Insect Pillar.
"You should tell him, (Y/n). You're only hurting yourself." Shinobu also knew your disease and did whatever she can to help her kakushi friend. Shinobu is really skilled in the medical field and you admired her for that. But after she found out the disease, there's no other way for her to cure the disease but she can prevent your early death as you take her herbs and the medicines. Only the Water Pillar can turn the tables and save you.
"If he knew, He will blame himself for the disease I have. I think it's better this way."
"Then, if it becomes worse and the herbs will not be enough do you think he will not blame himself?"
"Then, you will come in the picture and tell him that I left the corps and went far away to cure the disease and that I have a family to be with so that I'll not be lonely."
"And you think that he'll buy that excuse of yours?"
"Maybe."
-------------------
(Y/n) saw Giyuu looking at the stars. "I didn't think stargazing was your thing." She sat beside him and also looked at the stars.
"You know, you can imagine shapes if you connected the stars." Giyuu looked at her whilst she's looking far, admiring the stars. "I also heard stories that people who died became stars and they will guide us here in our world. It was comforting and reassuring to say and I think it's really beautiful." She said and looked at Giyu's blue eyes. His eyes depict more of what he actually says. He looked confused and thrilled to the idea that (Y/n) mentioned.
"Do you think it's true, (Y/n)?" Giyuu looked like he was also finding comfort in her interesting story. He wants to believe that they didn't hate him instead, they guide him in every choice that he will make.
(Y/n) smiled to him and placed her hands over his shoulder, "If I were to become like them, I will also guide you, Giyuu and I'll be the brightest and shiniest star you will ever see!"
Giyuu smiled and looked at the stars again, "Then you'll be an annoying star that glows like a madman." (Y/n) chuckled,
"But, I don't want to become a star that early! I want to enjoy my life but If I did become a star like a madman as you said, then don't blame yourself. You should be thankful that I'll be gui-"
"Then stay with me or the other pillars." He placed his hand over yours. The touch was comforting both of them. She looked at their now intertwined fingers and smiled bitterly.
"It's not easy" She whispered. Once again looking at the stars. Maybe she did took the path that she will not regret.
Even though it is hurting her deep inside, she knew that this was the best decision.
