"Do you remember the day I caught you stealing from me?"
...
"I remember it all... why taicho?"
...
"Reitaban... you may never forgive yourself as a child, but you weren't given much of a choice but to live that lifestyle. It's only because of me you learned your place, and learned the most important thing in this job: fear."

< REITABAN'S POV >I'm late. She sent me a memo telling me to come alone through the Dangai as soon as possible, but I was spending the whole day executing orders. Now here I am, running through the manor halls like an idiot on a treadmill, knowing good and well being late pisses off my taicho. And tagging along my waist is my broken Zanpakutō... It's like I'm asking for a death wish.
I don't know what, but something bad happened the days I've been gone from Soul Society, that apparently it has everyone quite shaken up including the higher-up Captains. I've made the conclusion that my taicho is willingly going to beat my behind as soon as I reach her room. Still.. I can't shake off the thought of their being evil in a place where we're supposed to protect; It's unheard of. Nor can I help but sense foul play lurking in the Seireitei.
The whole manor was dark, nothing much was visible but the color of lit up candles illuminating the huge and awful long hallways. Slightly exhausted, I reach her door & knock to let taicho answer, because, I know her too well and she'll scorn me if I don't. Checking on my wound, a slight pain sputters throughout my whole chest, making me to groan softly. The door opens, and the overwhelming smell of sake and taichos kiserus' smoke pipe rushes past the door. I stand to see my taicho not too awfully wasted, but her usual drunk self; a mysterious, and outwitting type of drunk.
"T-Taicho.... W-What's going on?? What did I miss?"
She was standing, looking out her open window with the night wind breezing warm air. Did I mention it was night? Every time night falls, my taichos' exotic eyes manage to see through every lie you've told, what you've been up to, and how you're really feeling. It always manages to make you feel like you want to look away, but you're induced by her gorgeous eyes and you just can't escape them. She smoked from her pipe once more and exhaled out the window before closing it up, and that was a sign meaning 'close the door, we're gonna talk'. I know this much because she's never serious enough to sober up, but she also doesn't take her job lightly.
"Sheesh, drop the honorifics. Good afternoon to you too child. Mind explaining why is it you reek of human and blood?"
"S-Sorry.. I thought you'd be mad at me since I was late.. I'm only bleeding because of th—"
