< IZU'S POV >

"I wonder why Ms. Mei hasn't opened up yet, she's typically opens up pretty early.."
"She couldn't have picked a worse day to be late! I'm about to go and watch my family get married and she has my order of three dozen roses! Can you believe that? How irresponsible!"
"Maybe she has other things to do... you can't be so harsh."
"Ms. Mei does have a kid to take care of. Maybe she's late because of him, or she could be sick! Oh poor thing.. Wait.. no, even if she was sick she would still come in! She's done that before! Where could she be?"
"Ms. Mei is so friendly, she had to have told one of us where she could have gone.."
"Unforgivable! This is absolutely unacceptable! There is another great flower shop in Karakura Town, she might have just lost her best customer!"

An unusual amount of Mei's regulars were lined up outside, obnoxiously talking out loud about how late she is. Old people have nothing better to do..

What a weird sight to see.

Mei would never miss a day of work over a sick day, and on top of that, it's two hours past her normal opening time. So, I cut through the line and look closely through the glass window to see if she was inside, but there was no sign of movement.

Okay.. something's up.

I went around back, moving a plant to find a spare key and unlocking the back door to find all of her plants and flowers completely bloomed. It wasn't even a week she had planted them and somehow, they had been perfectly flourished. I stood in amusement from the gorgeous sight of all different types of flowers and amazing scents they released. After a moment, I went right to the front of the store to see she had left nothing, everything was in place: cash register with money, clock-in/out, and not one bit of dirt on the floor. The whole place was clean, so I couldn't under a reason for why Mei wouldn't show up to work...

I decided because I have a day off, and Mei is reasonably late and my best friend, I should open up for her and take care of her business. I welcomed the regulars that were still waiting and thanked them for their patience and rest assure, I offered a bogus explanation as to why Mei was late. Although I'm no professional with flower names and types, I can say I most definitely nailed it, and Mei would totally be laughing at how much of a business man I'd be. Closing came around about smoothly, and the last minutes were spent mainly trying to get in contact with Mei by phone but went straight to voicemail.

Strangely enough, during closing two men had walked in the store looking extremely well groomed and charming. Pause, I'm not gay. I'm just saying one of them looked way better than me, and the other one was skinny and strange with long white hair. I had to put away my phone because the better looking one was walking to the counter with a bouquet of white roses, in some extremely fashionable glasses; the other one stayed behind by a few inches, roaming around at the different types of flowers on display. Foreigners maybe?

"Hi, We're about to close, you're our last customers. Can I help you with anything?"

"Maybe you can help me with the mystery I was wondering. Do you happen to know where Mei is today?..."

This guy's voice. It sent shivers down my spine, obviously because of how smooth and deep it sounded. His eyes when he said her name narrowed at me, targeting my very soul, making me feel small & paralyzed from breathing. He gives me the heaviest glare I've ever experienced: glimpsing through his ruby colored cat-like sun glasses, a callous, almost aloof smile. He had placed the bouquet on the counter as he got closer to examine me, peaking glimpses but you could catch a peak of his actual eye color. That was when I stepped back from fear; the man's eyes were resonating a freakish bright red, unnatural as hell.
