ALLIE
"Hey, Cole!" I smiled as he walked in. Winter Break would be over in a few days. Despite our exhausted states, I'd invited Cole over again. This time was going to be big. It was the final step- I was asking him, if he'd like to take me. Well, not exactly.
After we'd naturally fallen into conversation, I slowly asked, "Um, Cole, can I ask you something?"
"Sure." He turned seriously to me. God, I loved those piercing eyes.
"I really loved hanging out with you, and I really want to get closer with you. Cole, I really, really, like you, and I want you to know that I've waited my entire life to do this." I leaned forward, but he ducked underneath my reach.
"Okay, um, Allie, I really liked hanging out with you, but if it was all for this..." He shook his head. "I already have a date, anyway. So, good luck." He slammed the door behind him. I peered at his angry expression as he talked to someone, possibly his dad. A car pulled up with what looked like his butler in it and they drove away. I sighed.
Collapsing on the couch, I dialed Gwen and explained my situation. "Look, that's the thing..." Gwen started. I groaned. Where was this going?
"No, it's not like that, it's just... Cole texted me a few days ago. I wanted to tell you, but I sensed your connection. And since you already hate the world already, hopefully when you engage yourself with the world again, you won't hate me this much."
I sighed. "Gwen, if there's one thing I've learned, it's that sometimes you have to just let things go. You don't always get your way, and you have to accept that."
"What has come over you?"
"Nothing! Gwen, c'mon. That's sort of mean."
"Okay, okay. Now, could I come over or not?"
