Dean looked down. No. Fucking. Way.
"Meow?" came a small, pitiful mew from the satanic bastard called a cat. The cat had somehow managed to get into Dean's duffel bag, hitching a ride back to their motel. Now, it continuously hopped around the room, Sam and Dean unable to catch him. Sam sighed in frustration and gave up his attempts in capturing the kitten.
"Maybe he knows something? Sometimes animals can sense supernatural tendencies. There's all kinds of lore on it," Sam shrugged, Dean scowling at the little black kitten with striking blue eyes.
"I don't care, Sam! Get that flea bag outta the motel!" Dean whined, sensing something off about the kitten with familiar blue eyes that seemed to pierce his very soul. The kitten finally stopped jumping around and allowed Sam to pick him up, though he sent Dean a betrayed look.
"Wait," Dean commanded, stepping in front of Sam to prevent him from throwing the kitten outside. Sam looked at his brother, confusion masking his face.
"What?" Sam asked, following Dean's gaze down to the little ball of fluff in his arms. Dean took the kitten from his brother, staring at him for what seemed like hours before finally speaking up.
"...Cas?" Dean questioned, the little kitten giving a small nod in confirmation. Dean's eyes widened in surprise, nearly dropping the kitten in shock. Cas hissed and instinctively dug his claws into Dean's shirt, tearing the fabric and Dean's skin. Dean yelped and threw Cas on his bed.
"Ow! You little shit! That hurt!" Dean complained, dabbing his torn shirt at the bloody claw marks that Cas left trailing down his chest. Cas' ears flattened and his tail drooped. He walked over to Dean and put his head down, mewing what sounded almost like an apology. Dean smiled a bit and patted Cas on the head lightly.
"It's fine, just don't do it again," Dean warned, continuing to pet Castiel, an angel, or should I say kitten, of the Lord. Cas started purring, rubbing his face along Dean's hand. Sam stood by the door, chuckling and shaking his head slightly.
"So, am I the only one here that would like to know why Castiel is, ya know, a cat?" Sam asked, amusement gracing his features. Dean shrugged, still stroking the angelic kitten.
"Course I wanna know. But it's too late to research tonight, we can do it tomorrow. I'm gonna go to bed," Dean said, yawning a bit. Sam rolled his eyes and sat on the edge of his own bed, pulling out his laptop and placing it on his lap. He began typing away furiously, most likely to research on angels being turned into cats. The idea was laughable.
Dean yawned again and removed his torn and slightly bloody shirt, climbing into his bed. He laid on the bed and reached over to turn the small table lamp off, plunging the room into complete darkness, the only bit of light shining from Sam's laptop. Dean crawled under the thin blanket on his bed, and Sam soon went to bed as well.
Right when Dean started drifting off, he felt small paws on his forearm. Dean grumbled and rolled over slightly, opening his eyes to squint at Cas, who was staring and cocking his head at the older Winchester.
"The hell, Cas?" Dean mumbled, still half asleep. Cas mewed and started kneading Dean's arm. Dean groaned in annoyance.
"Not happening, Cas. Get your ass of my bed and let me sleep," Dean growled, tossing himself over onto his side, facing away from Cas. Dean waited to hear Cas jump off of his bed, but all he heard was a small, heartbroken mew. Dean sighed.
"Fine, but only tonight and no telling Sam," Dean ordered, seeing the kitten give him a little nod in the darkness. Dean rolled over onto his back as Cas crawled onto his chest, careful to avoid the scratch marks from earlier. Cas laid down on Dean's torso and buried his tiny head under Dean's chin, purring like the Impala's engine. Dean smiled and fell asleep, Castiel snuggling on his chest.
