Chapter 4: Dazed And Confused

I exited the house in such a fast mannerism that the dull ache in the back of my head spread everywhere. I couldn’t think straight, I barely even noticed my neighbours and their families, their biological families, enjoying each other’s company. I did however take into account the house with the moving truck from earlier this morning. A man now replacing the presence of the middle aged woman. Oddly enough he looked familiar as well, but once again I could not place the face.

Without dwelling on the new neighbours on the street too much I continued on my way too God knows where.

My pounding head really made me regret even leaving the house, but it was too late to go back and think things through at home.

Not even realizing that I had walked all the way to the town community park, I rubbed my temple and sat down on a vacant swing. For a nice sunny day in June there weren’t a lot of people out and about.

After concentrating solely on my ever growing migraine I took the time to evaluate the morning news. I, Mia Valerie Elliot, was adopted.

I wasn’t angry, I knew for sure I wasn’t. I wasn’t confused or disappointed. I just didn’t know how to feel in the circumstances. My parents are not my parents. And I say this phrase loosely because I know that they are my parents after all that they had done for me and been through with me they love me as if I was their own. I love them so incredibly much for it. I just wish they had told me this through my childhood so now at this point in my life it wouldn’t be that much of a shock to the system.

I don’t blame them, and I guess that is all that is important. I love them just the same, mom is and always will be mom, dad is and always will be dad, and I’m okay with that.
