Chapter 5

I'm sorry...

As I jumped down my window, I called to sky for her to jump, as she looked down at me she started to whine, clearly she was scared, " c'mon girl, we gotta go " I said in a hushed voice hopefully she heard me. I looked around to see if I attracted any of them, luckily I didn't.

Sky looked down at me whining, " jump girl, jump, I'll catch you " I said hoping she would obey, she then looked down then jumped to me as I moved to were she was gonna fall, I caught her " good girl, very good girl " I told her patting her. She licked my face, as I put her down I looked at the gate surrounding my house " we could use the forest, to go to the supermarket " i said clearly talking to myself, " but it'll be harder to see if anything's after us cause the trees " I started thinking on which way to go.

I made up my mind " forest it is " I said walking towards the gate " clearly if anything is after us, we could hide easily " I said with a triumph smile on my face. As we reached the gates I unlocked the gates, and headed into the forest, as we entered, I thought it was best to stay in the edge so we could see were we are going. As we walked I looked over to sky who was following me occasionally sniffing trees and bushes, I stopped so she could use the restroom, as she went to a tree I noticed that I also needed the restroom too,

So I walked to another tree and did my business, as I was occupied urinating I didn't pay attention to my surroundings, I then heard a twig snapped, I froze oh my god, oh my god I thought as slowly as I could, and as I turned I saw a zombie going to me groaning aghhhh, before I could grab my gun or something it launched towards me,

Before it could launched at me I saw sky launched towards it tackling it to the ground, biting at it, I then heard her cry out in pain, in instinct I grabbed my gun and shot the zombie straight in the head twice. As I saw its lifeless body go limb I stared at my dog who was now on the ground whimpering, " no no no, not again, please God no " I said rushing towards sky, she whimpered " it's okay girl, your okay " I said holding her, tears started to fill my eyes, and blurred my vision she then whimpered one last time then her body went limped,

I looked at it, " I'm so sorry " I whispered, then shot her in the head, hopefully she wouldn't become those things. I hid her in a bush so that those zombies won't devour her flesh. I then got up knowing that now I should get out f here cause now any zombie close by would come here, as I rushed to the streets I saw zombies popping out of everywhere I ran towards a house to hide in,

As I broke in I watched as zombies from every corner made themselves into view and followed the noise of the gunshots. As I took a deep breath in I let all the tears fall, now I don't have anyone. As I kept holding onto Beth's words " don't die on me, okay? " I knew I had to fight, if I wanted her again. I looked out to see that it emptied out but right now I felt really tired, I laid down on the molded couch which was surprisingly almost comfortable,

Even though we just left the house an hour ago, all this weight of sadness is eating at me, taking away my energy, so I went to sleep. I could go tomorrow there's no rush was my last thought and I fell asleep. When I woke up my bones cracked in different places which was uncomfortable, I looked out the window and saw that it was midnight already, yawning I took my bag and pulled out a toy that was for sky, I looked at and gripped it in my hands. Tears rolling down my face I threw it to the wall wishing that I could scream because now I really needed to let out this anger in me,

It was my fault my dad died, it was my fault my mom died, and for the third fucking time it was my fault my dog died I thought to myself, I killed everyone I loved, and now I have to make sure that I don't kill Elisabeth too. I wiped my face not feeling the need to cry and be angry anymore, it was surprising whenever I get mad I stay mad, but when I think about Beth while I'm mad it sorta disperse. Sighing to myself I pulled out a granola bar, munching on it without enthusiasm, I should be glad I was still alive, but I wasn't. I laid back down on the couch hoping I could fall asleep again,

Thinking about my life and how it was back then, it was better than now but hey, at least in not taking tests, and exams I thought and smiled, life now did have advantage's. Knowing that I couldn't sleep I got up, "maybe I should scout the perimeter," I said to no one, "yup," I sighed, walking into the first room visible I noticed it was a kitchen, I looked around it looked kinda modern, I opened the fridge and regretted it the smell of molded and rotten food met my nostril making me gag, closing the fridge happy that the smell was going away.

I looked into the cabinets finding nothing, as I opened the last cabinet I made a triumph fist bump with the air, inside was a first aid kit, a lighter, and s can of lighter fluid. I smiled knowing this will all come in handy, I took out all of them and laid them on the counter as I rumageded through the other cabinets. Happy with my findings in the kitchen, I made my way upstairs slowly walking the stairs, not trying to catch attention to anything moving in the house.

As I reached the top of the stairs I looked into the hallway seeing all the doors were closed, I walked to the closet on and leaned on it hearing nothing but silence, I opened it and peered inside nothing out of the ordinary was inside so I closed it. I made my way to the door on the left, doing the same I opened it and saw nothing it must've been a teenagers room because of the posters, I walked in and scoped the place looking for any treasures, I went to the desk and saw photos of strangers smiling back at me, I opened the drawers and found pens, markers and paper. I grabbed a hand full of own and markers shoving it in my pockets, I went to the bed and found nothing. I exited the room satisfied with the utensils and paper, I made my way to another door and found that it was a bathroom, it didn't have anything I needed so i went to the last door,

When I reached it an awful smell came from under the door, covering my nose I put my hand to the door knob, slowly turning it I regretted looking in, the smell was even more horrid staining the air in the house, I saw 3 body's sprawled on the floor, gunshot wounds in the head. There body's were rottining, and if I was correct the third body was the teenager I looked closer and it was, her eyes and mouth were wide open. I then knew that she was shot forcibly, the body with a gun was the father who shot he wife and daughter. I closed my eyes and shut the door wishing that image will disappear but to my dismay it didn't, I walked downstairs back to my sleeping area and laid down. I needed to leave this house quick, tomorrow I will leave I told myself.
