On the road
I cursed as the gas was still going into the fuel box, "hurry Ash," Willow said from the passenger fidiging as she looked at the garage door, thank God they hadn't located us I thought as I stared to the door and the canister. As I stared at the gas it was starting to slow down and before I could tell Willow we were almost going the door slammed open, as I looked to the door I saw one zombie slowly walking to Willow who was saying a prayer and cussing at me, then the zombie came fire me fuck This I thought as I closed the cap and ran to the drivers seat shutting the door scaring Willow who was holding her gun,
I tried the car again which gave another splutter "fuck, fuck, fuck," I said hitting the steering wheel causing the car horn to go of "fucking hell!," I yelled at my stupid action I kept trying the car, "were going to die, were going to die," Willow said tears falling down her face as she trembled in her seat, stuff got worser as more zombies filled the garage banging on the car, I tried the car again to no avail I looked over at a crying Willow "Willow, Willow!," I called to her knocking her out of her death trance,
She looked at me as the scared innocent child she was not the brave zombie survivalist she tried to be, I grabbed her face in my hands "Were not going to die, I promise you, you will survive and live a fucking great life in this zombie apocolypse," I told her smiling, she gave me a small smile as she nodded and looked over to the zombies. I then prayed to whatever God was out there and started the car one last time "c'mon baby girl," I said as I turned the key and to my surprise the car started giving it's him of the engine "yes, yes, fucking yes," I said smiling as I kissed the steering wheel I looked over to see Willow closing her eyes smiling, I then looked to see the zombies where already piled in the garage, I then put the car in reverse "hold on,it's going to be a bumpy ride," I told Willow who nodded and put on her seatbelt, I smiled I felt like one of the people in the movies who run down zombies well I mean it is actually happening I then reversed the car hitting the zombies that where in the back crushing them under the tires,
I then put it back to drive and pressed the gas pedal down hard making the tires squeal as it slammed into the zombies and garage door, breaking it and crushing the zombies all at once, now that they where out they could see that the whole neighborhood was filled with zombies, "that's alot," Willow whispered I nodded and drove forward hitting the zombies in the way, the car bounced as it crushed the zombies below it. I was glad that we were safe in the car not out in the open where we could easily get injured, I then looked to Willow who was staring at the zombies around us "they used to be alive like us, what happened to them," she asked me with tears in her eyes, I sighed as I shrugged "I really don't know Will, maybe it's like what happened in the movies some virus outbreak," I said trying to make her feel better she just nodded and looked out the window.
An hour has pass since we left, I look to see that the gas was half way full, it will last for a week I thought sighing, I told Willow to get some rest since the sun was already up, I rolled down my window to let the cool morning wind get in the car, and to air it out because I smelled like one of the dead I was still covered in blood from my clean out this morning, as I turned my attention back to Willow I saw she was squirming in her sleep, even though she was a brat I felt sorry for her, she didn't deserve to live in a world like this. I then set my eyes on the road looking for any signs indicating where we were.
A smile grew on my face as I saw a sign on the road, I stopped next to it and read it 2 miles away from truckers gas station I then started the cat waking Willow up, "good news," I said as I drove back on the "Where close to a gas station," I told her giving her my bag, "there's a granola bar in there," I said as I gave her my bag. Another hour pass and Willow was really being quiet which wasn't normal at all for her "so tell me, what were you like before all this shit," I said trying to start a conversation she shrugged, "I guess, normal?," She questioned herself sighing I chuckled, "you?, Normal?," I laughed at my home which made Willow smile and roll her eyes,
"C'mon elaborate 'Ms. Normal'," I said phrasing her new nickname, "well, I mean I was just a regular sixth grade student at Georgia Polem Middle school, I like skateboards," she smiled at her last sentence, I noted that maybe I might get her one I thought, she continued on about her and her skateboard and what they've been through, but she had to leave it behind as her parents where in a rush to leave there home. "And I never saw Skate again," she sighed, thinking on my question I wanted to ask her I cleared my throat "so uh, if you don't mind me asking, what happened to your parents, you don't have to answer-," before I finished she cut me of and gave me a sad smile,
"It's fine, well after we left home we where on the road until," she didn't get to finish what she was going to say because tears began to fill her eyes and she started hicupping random words that I didn't understand, I placed my hand on her shoulder rubbing it "hey it's fine, you don't have to," I gave her a sad smile as I saw her break which made me feel even more bad for asking, she nodded and laid back down on her seat watching the scenenary. It was thirty minutes after I spotted something shining from a far distance squinting my eyes I looked forward, "Will, you see that?," I asked her as I squinted even harder, she even looked squinting too "looks like something reflecting on s mirror or glass," she said and we both looked at each other "gas station," we both said smiling she clapped her hands as I wore a big smile,
I then drive up to the place seeing that it was already worn out, "do you think there's anyone inside?," Willow ask as she peered at the gas station building, I shrugged "only one way to find out Will," I told her pulling out my gun and opening the door, she nodded as she opened hers too going next to my side. We then scout the place "okay you stay on watch," I said to her checking the door she nodded as she looked around the place, I then saw that there was a chain on the door a smile spread across my face "if the chains not broken, then that means nothing has been touched," I said pointing my gun at the chain but then, "wait," Willow said as she saw me about to shoot the chain,
"Do you want another mass of dead after us?," She asked me putting her hands on her hips I rolled my eyes, "where in the middle of nowhere, smartass," I reminded her gesturing to the metres of nothingness she rolled her eyes as she walked back to the truck and looked for something in her bag, I rolled my eyes as she came back with a pin and she picked the lock "better safe then sorry, poke boy," she said as the lock clicks open she gave me a smug smile which I returned, she rolled her eyes as she put it back in her pocket and pulled out her gun,
I removed the chain and pushed the door open, dust and hot air hit me as I entered the gas station coughing I waved my hands in the air to get the dust away, when I looked around my eyes landed on the jackpot in front of me "Will holy fucking shit, come in here!," I yelled over to her so she could look at the loot, her mouth dropped as she saw "holy mother of-," I cut her off "food, like real food" I said smiling as I walked to the can food and food in their package, I then grabbed a chocolate bar and opened it tasting it, "it still taste like chocolate, just soggier," I told her mouth full with the chocolate, Willow but chuckled as she hurriedly grabbed one devouring it in seconds, as she finished she let out a loan of satisfaction.
Hours past and I told Willow that we should stay for the night which she agreed with, "Mahn I fucking miss these," Willow said as she poured all the M&M's in her mouth making me chuckle an nod, "so what's the plan?, poke boy," she said in between chewing her M&M's I sighed and looked up to the ceiling, "well I guess where heading to Pennsylvania," I told her and as I finished she had wide eyes, "what the fuck, that's like across the fucking country, are you crazy?," She asked me dramatically, I rolled my eyes "it's just like a two weeks away if we go by car, seven or more if we go by foot," I shrugged she shaked her head chuckling like she was crazy, "even for you poke boy, that sounds fucking insane, what if we die?!," She said again clearly not liking my plan, "we won't," I told her eating some more of my expired Takis.
