Next day
As my eyes fluttered open I saw Sky sleeping beside my feet, I yawned as I sat upright to see what time it was the sky was a dark shade of blue, so I thought that it was becoming morning. Confused on why I woke up this early I got up and made my way to the bathroom to relieve myself, as I finished my morning routine I walked back out of the bathroom feeling clean and refreshed, I grabbed my towel as I tied it around my waist so I could look for my clothes, I grabbed a White tank top with blue colored shorts, I wore them and looked in the mirror I could see my grey set of eyes staring back at me.
As I finished combing my Sandy blonde hair I walked out of my room to go downstairs and check my parents, but then I heard hushed whispers confused I walked closer to the stairs to see the kitchen light illuminating the stairs, I walked down the steps making sure not to make any noise, as I was in good hearing range I put my ear out to hear my mother getting mad at my father and then I knew it was about the supply run again, "no Daniel!, He-he's to young," she whispered to him as she occasionally looked up at the kitchen arch to see if I was there,
Luckily I was hidden in the dark so she couldn't see me, "Mary look Ashton isn't a child anymore, for goodness sakes he's already a man, he can handle himself just fine, my dad shot back as he gestured to my room where he thought I was in. "But still Daniel I don't get why he has to go," my mom said as tears welled in her eyes as she held herself looking at my father, my dad looked at my mom and sighed "Mare we've been through this already, y'know that I will never ever let anything happen to our boy, I will protect-," my dad started but me being fed up with this nonsense I emerged from the darkness,
My mother gasped as she saw me and she looked at my dad indicating that I was there "I don't need protecting, I can protect myself just fine thank you." I said as I crossed my hands, my dad sighed as he ran he's hand through he's "look bud, me and your mother were thinking," he started as he eyed my mother who was nodding for him to continue, "well we had this discussion yesterday-," he said but I cut him of already knowing "yeah I know, you want to bring me on the supply run, but mom doesn't think it's safe," I said as I rolled my eyes "clearly me and you think that she's being over protective, while you think that I'm old enough to go," I finished as I looked at both of them.
My dad nodded slowly as a small smile formed on he's lips "well it's your decision, kid," he said as he put he's hand on my mother's shoulder which she held and closed her eyes, "I mean of course I'm gonna go, I have to," I said as my dad smiled even more and looked at my mother "well the boy made up he's mind," he said to her, she took a deep breath in as she closed her eyes again and letting it out she looked at me then walked to me, her next move surprised me instead of getting yelled at I was being held in a death grip by my own mother.
She started sniffling as she said things into my shoulder which I didn't really understand until she looked at me, "I-i just do-dont want you to ge-get hurt," she said as she wiped her tests away, I gave her my reassuring smile "don't worry mom, I won't and plus dad'll be there, so there's no need to worry," I said as I rubbed her back she nodded and let go of me, she then kissed my forehead "I love you," she said as she looked deep into my eyes meaning it, "I love you too Mom," I told her she nodded and fixed her dress "okay now that we have that situation controlled, I should make breakfast," she said with her usual happy tone.
She then went into her own world as she got the ingredients for her meal, she hummed a very specific tune that I quite can't remember where I knew it from, but it sounded so familiar. My father walked up to me and placed a hand on my shoulders "I'm proud of your choice bud, just go easy on mom, okay?," He told me as he patted my back I nodded to him as he left to go into he's own world, I then walked to the side of mother who looked at me with a smile on her face "you need help?," I asked her which she nodded to and have me stuff to do, the day went on after I finished helping Mom cook for lunch too.
My dad told me to start packing my stuff to make sure I'm ready for tomorrow, which I excitedly did I gained he's habit on rechecking if everything was there, I looked at sky who was staring back at me laying on my bed I got up and walked to her, "hey girl, hang in there," I said as I kissed her forehead which earned me a lick to the face I chuckled. To past time I grabbed one of sky's ball so we could play, "you want it girl?," I asked her as I waved it in the air, she then got up and waved her tail sticking out her tongue waiting for me to throw the ball. As I finished playing with sky I walked downstairs to which the zombie from yesterday was still banging on, since it was still there my father postponed the supply run for tomorrow, but if it doesn't leave by tomorrow then I didn't know what else to do.
I wanted to go outside so badly no I needed to go outside so badly I thought as I watched the door as it vibrated with every hit it for with the zombie, zoning out I didn't see my father place he's stuff in front of me "you should get some rest bud, you'll need all the power for tomorrow," he said I noises and walked back into the room, sky who was sleeping already in my bed was now sprawled everywhere, I looked to her bowl to see she finished her food. I closed my eyes as I laid on the bed sleep taking me in slowly.
