Chapter 12
~Jerome~
The roads were finally cleared at six in the morning, and since Nolan was still awake then he took no time to start packing up his stuff so we could head home. I was the only one still awake with him and I was the one who gave him the news that the roads were clear.
"You couldn't wait until a bit letter to start packing?" I asked.
"Nope," Nolan said, rolling up the sleeping bag. "I really want to go home and take a nice, long shower before sleeping for possibly the whole weekend. Maybe the whole week. In fact, don't wake me up unless it's the a cappella competition."
"Don't we have to rehearse more?" I asked. "You can't just sleep until the competition."
Nolan looked at me as he curled his lips into a pout. "But I want to sleep until the competition."
"No, don't give me that look," I said. "You know I can't resist those adorable puppy dog eyes."
"Exactly why I'm doing it. Wanna come over when we get home and sleep with me? Wait, no, not sleep with me but... Actually sleep. Like falling asleep. That sleep."
"I thought you wanted to take a shower first before you go to bed. Ooh, can I take a shower with you?"
"What? No. I said no sleeping sleeping."
"Taking a shower together isn't sleeping together. So can we?"
"No."
"Then I won't come over."
Nolan, of course, was able to convince me to go to his house once we left the school. He just had to use his puppy dog eyes that I just couldn't say no to. His bright blue eyes just grew as big as they could be as his bottom lip curled into a pout.
So freaking adorable.
How could anyone not find him adorable?
"Fine, I'll still come over," I said. "And I guess I won't pester you to get into the shower together."
At least not until we got to his house.
I helped Nolan pack up his stuff because honestly, even I was tempted to go home right now. Well, at least go to Nolan's home. We could finally be in the comfort of a home, feeling warm under the bundles of blankets Nolan had.
Even though we had the sleeping bag and air mattress, it wasn't the same as lying in a comfortably warm bed.
Once everything was packed, I slung my backpack over my shoulder before Nolan and I left the auditorium. I could wake everyone else up and tell them that the roads were cleared so we could head home, but they were pretty annoying after I put the movie on around one so they could just wake up on their own.
Hopefully they woke up hours later before realizing they were able to head home.
As Nolan and I got to the front door, I saw Mrs. Goth sitting on a chair there. I didn't know if she was sitting there all night to prevent students from sneaking out or she got here when it was announced that the roads were cleared. Either way, I was going to just break the door if she tried to stop us from leaving.
Nolan was really looking forward towards going home so I had to make sure he got there, and I would do anything for him.
Including, yes, breaking a door.
