Gerard woke up to an empty bed and an angry phone.
He was confused for all of 4 seconds before realising the time was roughly too-fucking-early-for-this, so, with his head still buried comfortably in his pillows, the 22 year old blindly slapped his phone screen until the sound stopped and he sighed happily, snuggling deeper into the warmth of his bed. Except it wasn't that easy, because when he rolled over and came face to face with his phone he was startled to find that he had, in fact, answered a video call from the absolute love of his life. And said love of his life did not look impressed.
"Gerard, are you really still in bed?" Frank asked, trying to look annoyed but honestly, what did he expect.
"Of course." Was the response given.
Gerard did sit up though, which was usually the first step in his half-hour-long process of getting out of bed. He heard Frank sigh and he figured he'd be nice and speed things up a bit. After stretching until his back popped, the black-haired man was standing and smiling triumphantly at his fiance who's location was currently unknown. It took Gerard an embarrassingly long time to realise that Frank was, in fact, not home.
"Wait," He started, pausing in his search for pants. "Where are you?"
Frank sighed again and Gerard knew he'd forgotten something. Was it a birthday? A Holiday? Fuck was it somehow Halloween? Had he slept that long?
"I had an appointment this morning remember? And we were supposed to meet...?" Frank trailed off, looking at Gerard expectantly. It clicked as he buttoned up his jeans. "At the cafe! Right! I'll be there quick as possible!"
Giving up on his annoyed facade, Frank just smiled lovingly. Gerard grinned back until he remembered he should be getting ready, and as he rifled through the clothes in their wardrobe he heard Frank order their usual. Sweet, if he hurried he might get there at the same time as the coffee.
"Alright well, i'll see you in a bit then?" Frank asked, raising an eyebrow questioningly. Gerard nodded, holding a shirt in his hand.
"10 minutes tops." He promised, throwing the shirt over his shoulder and patting his pockets with his free hand. Honestly he had no idea if these were the jeans his eyeliner pencil was hidden in the pocket of, but he hoped they were because he didn't have time for a treasure hunt.
"Okay, love you, bye!" Frank said, and Gerard returned the sentiment before blowing him a kiss and hanging up. When he put the phone down on the bedside table he let himself admire the gold band around his finger and smiled softly, before forcing himself to finish getting ready.

As promised, Gerard arrive 10 minutes later, walking through the door, slightly out of breath and carrying a bag with his on-the-go art supplies in it. Frank smiled a little and kissed him when he got close enough and Gerard shot the nastiest glare he could muster at the girl who grimaced at them for it. Frank rolled his eyes and kissed him again before they sat down, Gerard sliding into the booth beside him.
After getting comfortable, he leaned against Franks side and snuggled closer, yawning obnoxiously to show his displeasure at being awake.
"Oh c'mon Gee, it's like 11am." He rolled his eyes and poked Gerard's cheek. Gerard grumbled. "You really should try and get some actual sleep hun." Frank sounded concerned but there was also amusement so Gerard huffed.
"Yeah, well, some annoyingly attractive guy called me and reminded me of a date i was supposed to be on, so i had to wake up in the middle of an awesome dream." He answered tiredly, perking up when a waiter walked over with their coffees.
"Anyway, how'd the thing go? Did they get anything interesting?" Gerard scooped the chocolatey foam off the top of his cappuccino and licked it off the spoon as he spoke.
"Oh yeah, they were really cool and they ended up asking for one of your designs and, as promised, i have photos." Frank fished his phone out of his pocket as Gerard leaned over excitedly.
Frank was a tattoo artist at a place called Spilled Ink which also happened to be one of Gerard's biggest clients. It's actually how they met. He sent over designs and Frank was usually the one who tattooed them, but they'd never really met or spoken, just an email here and there. But, then, the two had to get together with a picky customer to discuss a custom tattoo.
One thing lead to another and hey presto, they're engaged now.
Gerard smiled widely as Frank swiped through the photos of the tattoo. It was on someones thigh, and it was one of his witch-themes ones: with tarot cards and misty smoke and a hand with an eye on the palm. It looked bad ass, especially with the way Frank had done the shading.
"You did such a cool job Frankie, whoa!" Gerard forced himself to focus on Franks tattoo artistry and the care he put into it, instead of the flaws in the artwork. Now was not the time to be getting insecure about his abilities.
Frank smiled and kissed the side of his fiances head. "Thanks baby."
Gerard hummed and carefully moved away from his partner, grabbing his sketchbook and putting it on the table in front of them. Frank made a noise of delight at the sight of the book and Gerard wrinkled his nose at him, still not understanding why Frank liked his art so much.
The next few minutes passed by peacefully, with the couple quietly drinking their coffees and basking in each others presence. Gerard leaned into Franks side as he drew and Frank played with his hair as he watched the sketch take shape.
The artist hadn't really meant to draw his fiance, but as he added a brief scribble of shading he realised that's what was happening. Snickering to himself, he carefully doodled the tattoo's on his neck, and then added a few quick strokes to outline the jumper he was currently wearing.
It took Frank a little while to catch on but when he did he sounded just as in love as the last time Gerard had drawn him. Which was probably, like, yesterday because Gerard had a habit of drawing things he loves.
"Is that me?"
"Of course."
