"I am your father." That's what the man said. He really said that. Which made Evan simply turn and leave the house again. No, another dream. Another paranoia.

"Let me talk to him." Heidi said, coming to the door, quickly opening, to see Evan with an angry face. Pouting, probably. "Honey, what's up?"

"What do you think? After a rough day at school, a first day, I finally meet a man that claims to be my father? Wasn't him in Canada?"

"He was?" Heidi furrowed her eyebrows.

"Do I wanna know? He looks like a Canadian Wolverine."

"Honey... Wolverine is Canadian." Heidi corrected him. "Not that it matters. Just come in. Let's talk."

"No! I just had the worst first day of my life." Evan, stop.

"Believe me, that's not even close." Heidi commented. "I mean, come in. Calm down. And, please, don't freak out more."

Evan took a look inside. The man was sitting back on the couch. Evan looked back at his mother.

"Nah."

"Evan. You want to be grounded?" Heidi crossed her arms.

"Okay, I'll come in." He sighed. "But I won't treat him like if he was here all those years. He popped in like... Does he need anything? How much is he staying? Two days? Great! Bye to him in two days!"

"Evan, please. Just calm down." Heidi took a deep breath.

"I will go to the garden." Evan simply went to.

Heidi closed the door, and looked back at the man.

"You're okay, Joseph?" She asked.

"Yeah... What about him? Does he need time? I can take a hotel..." The man stood up again.

"It's just confusing to him. You left us for years." Heidi nodded. "You made us feel like..."

"Shit?" He smiled, teasingly.

"This comes to the cursing jar." Heidi sighed. "You made us feel small. Like, if anything could hurt us. And, then, you suddenly called me, saying you wanted to be back? Of course I was happy, but, we don't know you anymore. We have to build trust here."

"I'll do my best to make up to you. I'm sorry." Joseph nodded.

"Only one sorry won't help to get your son back." Heidi made a sign to the garden. "I'll talk to him... Or you want to?"

"I will... But if he pushes me away..."

"You won't do anything, or I'll hit your head with a broom." She said.

"I was going to say I would call you." Joseph nodded.

Heidi smiled and gestured for him to go. And, Joseph followed Evan's steps carefully towards the garden. Once opening the door, he suddenly faced a small garden. Red roses, a big tree, and a few other flowers, plants around. Evan seemed to be hugging a tree.

"You're hugging a tree?" Joseph grimaced.

"No, I'm not." Evan soon pulled away, coughing, and looking at the tree, whispering. "We talk later."

Joseph chuckled, approaching a bit, and looking at the red roses. And then back to Evan.

"Those were your mother's favourite." He commented.
