The water was crystal blue, and the wind blew softly on the trees and on every object in sight. Mal sat and watched as the fish swam about the water.
She and Evie were dining on scrumptious food at the Enchanted Lake, having a picnic, and just talking about how their lives were going.
"So, what do you and Doug have planned for this summer?" Mal asked Evie.
"Oh, nothing much. We are probably going to go camp somewhere." Evie responded.
"That's cool," Mal said.
"Do you and Ben have any plans for this summer?" Evie asked.
"Oh, we aren't doing anything much since we have to do a lot of wedding planning." Mal said.
"Aren't you so excited for your wedding? You'll become queen, Ben will officially be your husband, and..." Evie started saying as Mal became perplexingly frustrated.
Ben and Mal had been so busy lately with different tasks, that they hadn't been able to sit back, relax, and enjoy their teenage life. Mal has just wanted at least one day, even just an hour, to just relax and talk to Ben. She barely even spent any time with him because he was doing his kingly work.
Evie saw that something was on Mal's mind, so she decided to ask her what was wrong.
"M, I can see something is wrong. Tell me what is on your mind." Evie said.
"Well, E, my whole life is so complicated now. I have to learn how to be a queen, I have to plan the wedding, and I can't even talk to Ben about anything because he just so busy being king that...I barley even get to see him anymore..." Mal started trailing off with her thoughts and started to cry.
Evie hugged and comforted Mal.
"Don't worry, Mal. It's going to get better." Evie said with sympathy.
Mal tried to gather herself and said, "Thank you, I really appreciate it. I still have to remind myself, that there's still the future ahead of me."
"Yes, there is still the future ahead of you, don't ever forget that." Evie told Mal.
Mal hugged Evie tight, and they continued eating. After they finished their food, they packed up and left.Mal arrived home after the picnic, set her stuff down, and sat on the couch. Mal had just moved into the castle to be with Ben to make it easier on the both of them; also, since they were getting married, why wouldn't they?
Mal headed to their bedroom and sat on the the bed, waiting for him. She looked at her social media feed, always see the thousands of likes she always got on her posts and the things her other friends were doing with their lives. She always wished she and Ben could do the fun things that their friends were doing in their lives, but they were, of course, too busy with their lives to have any type of fun.
After an hour, Ben arrived home. He put his stuff down, and headed into their room to, by his surprise, see Mal laying there, waiting for him.
"Hi baby," Ben said as he kissed her.
"Hi, how was your day?" Mal asked him.
"Good, how was yours?" Ben asked.
"Good, I went and had a picnic with Evie today at the Enchanted Lake." Mal replied.
"That must've been fun. All I did today was do kingly stuff, of course." Ben said.
"Ugh, you must be tired after working all day." Mal said with concern.
"I sure am!" Ben exclaimed.
After they finished talking, they got ready for bed and lied next to each other.
"I love you," Mal said.
"I love you too," Ben said.
"Good night," Mal said.
"Good night," Ben said, "Sweet dreams."
