Chapter One

It had all started with a field trip announcement during Lancer's class. No one knew when the trip was supposed to take place or where they were going to go. All but three people in the back row who had an idea. They've known about this secret field trip for a while now and they know that it's bound to take place any day now. The only reason these three knew was because of one of their parents and the fact that they couldn't keep a secret. Especially when it comes to ghosts or ghost-related.

That's right Maddie and Jack Fenton. They don't know how to shut their mouths. When it comes to their kids though, they like to talk about them too but whenever they do, the things they say about their kids is always incorrect. They tell people Jazz went to Yale when she actually went to Harvard. With Dani, they barely talk to her much less about her. They speak more about Jazz, their favorite daughter. When it actually comes to communicating with their children, they don't.

They talk about ghosts more than their children. Heck, ever since Jazz has been gone they never talk to her or Dani. Jazz was really the only thing that made them go upstairs so once she left they just forgot about Dani. They became more obsessed with ghosts and knowing everything about them. They almost experimented on one but the good thing is Dani was able to rescue the poor soul before Maddie or Jack could get to him. The good thing is they were out getting Jack fudge so she was able to free him without getting caught.

Most days Dani never sees her parents, she sees them once a month if that. It's been two years since Jazz left for college so Dani, Tucker, and Sam are all seniors along with the rest of their class. In all of that time, Dani Fenton has seen them a handful of times at most and that's when she goes down to the lab. When she's Dani Phantom she's seen them 365 days a year. She can't even go on a relaxing flight anymore without running into them or Valerie.

The Fentons usually patrol the town from ten to midnight and Valerie patrols from seven to ten because her curfew is ten-thirty. Which they don't need to anymore due to the fact that ghosts don't attack or even come to Amity any more unless they really need to. If they do they don't use the Fenton Portal. That's too much of a risk now that the Fenton's are totally obsessed. If Dani went down to the lab and tried to stop the experimenting either Maddie and Jack would lecture her about why it was important or reveal their latest plans.

Which is exactly how she found out about the ghost zone field trip. She also happened to tell Sam and Tucker. That is currently how they are in the back of Lancer's classroom wondering when the torture will be over. Lancer didn't tell them until the last five minutes of class that there was going to be a field trip. Of course, it was also only Monday so tomorrow the halls will be chatting up a storm. The date of the trip is still unannounced but it's bound to be soon because most trips they take are announced a week before so that they have plenty of time to turn in their permission slips.

When the bell finally rings signaling the end of the school day. Everyone rushes out and the halls are loud, louder than what they usually are. Even when Lancer's door was shut it was like someone yelling in your ear and with Dani's sensitive hearing it was worse than that.
