Broken bones

Hello there, today's story is how I've broken my foot. Twice. Only one is entertaining though.

The first time I broke my foot i fractured i in 5 places along the growth plate and was on crutches for almost 9 weeks. I broke it sledding with my cousin, we'll call her K for this. So where I am in the world we get a lot of snow during late December to early January and into February. It was December 28 th and me and my cousin where hanging out, we had borrowed the neighbor boys sled and where about to go down the hill right next to my grandparents house.  Another thing about the snow is it crust over really fast. by crust over I mean that it gets a layer of really hard almost ice like snow over it. Great for sliding down until you flip the sled and cut your face up on it.

So I had the brilliant idea for both of us to go down on one sled together and go down this hill from the very very top. So we position the sled and i sit in the front, K sits in the back and wraps her legs around my torso, I lean back and we are off down the hill. At first it was fun, we were hooping and hollering like kids because we where. Than I realize we aren't slowing down and the tree line is coming up fast. It looks like we are going to miss the tree and go over the ledge, into a houses back yard if we don't stop. Well shit... And If I bail K will get all cut to hell because she too busy screaming blood murder/Praying to god to hear me tell her to bail. At least if she bails first she less likely to get cut up. So there I am, Screaming " Bail! BAIL" And shes screaming right back " SWEET BABY JESUES SAVE ME"

And long story short when I realized she wasn't going to bail, and that if I bail ill drag her out and she'll get cut I just closed my eyes. Yup I pulled an ' Its not going to happen if I don't look at it', thinking we where about to catch major air when we go over that ledge, because it looked like we were going to g through the one gap in the tree line.

Spoilers we did not. we hit a tree, because Duh we were sledding into a tree line. I didn't here the crack but I slayed there dazed for a solid five minutes before I realized, K wasn't really moving. " K? You good?" And then she starts laugh crying and The I start laughing hysterically and She finally tells me she fine but her back hurts and I feel perfectly fine until I sit up then my foot hurts like a mother trucker.

The I see the neighbor boy, he had finally come outside to join us so We holler up to him to get my grand parents. Second hand he apparently ran up to the house and told them " Come quick Rose is hurt bad" And my grand father come running down the hill K get up and my grandfather tell me to get up. I tell him i cant but i'll crawl up to the house. I get about ten feet before he tells me to get on the sled and him and K pull me up to the house. Were I sit on the couch until we decide I should go to the ER. They then tell me ( after about 5 hours of waiting) that I fractured my foot in one place and give me an air boot. ( It later turned out upon closer look that I had 5 fractures.) SO Yeah. I was so concerned with K's skin that I broke my foot and had to be on crutches for a stupid long time. I didn't go sledding for a very long time after that.

The second time I fractured my foot was last Saturday. Which is what inspired me to tell you guys about this. So I'm a female wrestler, one of four we have on our team, ( there use to be six but one dropped it because she didn't actually want to wrestle and one had other things she need to work on) But really there's only three because I accidentally concussed one of them. Anyway, we were at a tournament and I was wrestling 152, In my weight class there's a kid we'll call Max. Max is a new wrestler. None to bright but a sweet kid, and strong as an Oxe. So Max likes to throw head locks. When he went to throw one on me I went to duck under it and planned my foot. I didn't quite get low enough and he caught me in the head lock and turned my body fast. My foot stayed planted and I heard the crack.

Well that can't be good. I thought as Max choked me with my own arm in a head lock. Then I hear my neck pop and I thought Huh, I guess I have bigger problems then my foot now. And the ref blew the whistle. I get up ( almost in tears and stubble over to Maxs coaches and shake there hand before hobbling to my coach. he said it was probable a sprain. But i hobble around anyway to see the trainer and get me some Ice. the trainer looked at it and said I probably pulled something and t ice it and try to walk it off ( That did not happen). so I ice it and my fellow female wrestler on my team help me get to the locker room to use the bathroom and change my clothing, then I went and sat o the bleachers with my new best friend Ice bag and a book. Max came over and apologized, I told him it wasn't his fault and that I signed the paper work. About two hours later ( if you didn't know Wrestling tournaments are long as hell, especially when you can't do anything). I hobble over to the other athletic trainer for another bag of ice because the first one was water now. This trainer also looked at my foot and said she thought it was as pain but we should have it looked at if the pin was just as bad tomorrow. SO we went to the hotel because my mother is a saint and got us a hotel to stay at instead of me and my brother riding back on the bus and getting home at like 12 at night ( if we are lucky). I then make the decision to go swimming, and honestly it didn't bother my foot to much if i was just floating there. I crawl back to the hotel room and some how managed a shower one legged. The morning We ate breakfast and started are drive home.

The car then broke down because holy hell can anything go right? and about four hours later my brothers girlfriends father picked us up. We get home two hours later and then I go to the hospital  after about 30 minutes they get me in and X-ray my foot. They say there are no obvious breaks ( which basically means my bone isn't poking through the skin) and the splint my foot and tell us the radiologist will look at the X-Ray in the morning to confirm. The next morning they call saying its fractured, and The foot doctor will be in on the 31st. so I' stuck in the splint until then.

you want to know what the most infuriating part about all this is? My brother who does just as much if not more dangerous and stupid things then me has never broken a bone.
