He knew it was going to happen, but he was crossing his fingers, hoping it wouldn't. However, it needed to, and Draven was left with his bottle of whiskeys and nothing else. Draven was heading into work one of the mornings, only because all his bottles were in his office, when he was stopped before he even entered the building.
"You're not allowed in here," the security guards at the entrance said, "I'm sorry."
"What do you mean I'm not—"
"Call the Chancellor, his orders."
Draven was shocked, racing to his vehicle and instantly dialling the numbers of the Chancellor. He had been at Waterfalls Agency for over a decade; there was no way he would not enter his second home.
The moment the Chancellor responded, Draven began, "I don't understand what's going on, why am I not allowed in the building?"
"You're fired, Draven."
His heart skipped a beat; he thought it would explode from his chest. He heard ringing in his ears, pausing for a moment and feeling his blood begin to rush through his entire body.
This could not be happening.
Draven chuckled quietly, "What are you talking about, we're on contract?"
"You breached contract."
"No, I haven't—"
"Conqueror's Achievements? Diamonds? Newborn Horns? Andy and Booze?"
Draven frowned, "All titles of my stories—"
"When's the last time you've written for any of them?"
He inhaled a sharp breath, "I know, I've been having a tough few weeks—"
"But it's past a month now, Draven. I gave you time to fix this shit going on, I gave you more than a few weeks but you haven't changed. I should have fired you when Hector came to me but I didn't. I should have fired you when Alfred kept calling me, screaming at me that you were passing all the damn deadlines but I didn't. But I have enough."
"You can't fire me though," Draven raised an eyebrow, feeling his throat clench on itself.
"I have work to do, I cannot stay on the phone any longer. Get yourself better and I hope you find another agency; you are very talented Draven. I wish you nothing but the best."
"No, wait—" and the line was cut.
