12.26.19

At least I won't have to wake up at 4 in the morning anymore. I'm sick of working so many jobs. And for what? Paying the government money for my own education? Shouldn't they be paying me? I'm a righteous civilian trying to help my country, and what do I get in return? Debt.

Well, since I don't have any relatives, no one will have to take up the remaining money I owe to the bank. That's one problem I don't have to worry about.

I guess it's time for me to head to the restaurant. I hope I don't miss the subway again.

Break time at the restaurant. A blissful twenty minutes all to myself. What should I eat for dinner today? I'll probably grab some leftovers from the convenience store. Maybe they'll have some sandwiches that are about to expire.

I had a nice ten-minute nap earlier. A needed, let me add, nap. Damn, that crazy lady's calling me again. No, I don't want to help a customer check out! That's Hyeok's, that goddamn lazy bastard's job!

I wonder why he's getting paid more than me.

I got up from the small stool and headed toward the front desk. As I looked at the customer, I furrowed my brows. He looked familiar.

It was the guy from last night! What a coincidence.

I took his credit card and swiped it through the machine.

"I hope you enjoyed your food," I said as I handed the card back to him. He looked at me and smiled. He didn't look away.

Feeling a bit awkward, I laughed. "Do you need something, sir?"

He chuckled.

"You have a little drool on your chin." He tapped right below his lip and walked out.

Idiot, I thought to myself. Not that it mattered anyway.

I headed back to the staff room, wiping my chin.
