Hi, my name is Carmine Curtis. Im Sodapop's twin sister. Now, why don't we have rhyming names like most twins? Well, im named after my mom. The deal was that the firstborn boy would be named after my dad, Darrel. Then, the firstborn girl would be named after my mom. Then, for the rest of their children, they wanted them to have unique names. If they didn't like their names, my parents gave them regular middle names to go by. I find it a real honor to be named after my mom. She was the kindest woman I had ever met. I aspire to be like her every day. I have dark brown hair and a turquoise blue type of eyes. I have three brothers. Darry is the oldest. He's 20 and works way to hard, if I say so myself.
After Mom and Dad died in an auto wreck, he became our legal guardian. I love him to pieces, but he can be a bit to strict sometimes. Then, we had my twin brother Sodapop, who was 16. He has a movie star smile and a great personality. He's my best friend. I never want to see him sad. The saddest I had ever seen was Sandy dumped him and moved away. He was so upset he really did love that girl. We are inseparable. We've always been that way. Sometimes, I feel like we have a connection beyond twins. It's like we have a sixth sense. In the twin sense, we can always tell when something is up with each other. Or if one of us gets sick, the other will be sick in minutes. We have pretty much the same personality as well.
Were both happy-go, lucky kids. But in the school sense, im a lot like Ponyboy. Speaking of Ponyboy, he's my youngest brother. He's 14. He's real smart, but he doesn't use his head. It drives Darry crazy. I love that kid. Even though he's younger than me, he's real overprotective of me. All my brothers are. I'll tell you one thing: im never afraid to throw a punch if needed. I love my brothers more than life itself. I love the gang as well. They're basically my brothers. The gang comprises me, my brothers, Two-bit Matthews, Steve Randle, Johnny Cade, and the infamous Dallas Winstons. I've grown up with these boys. They are my brothers. I don't really have any friends that are girls. If you know what I mean, Im a tomboy and a girly girl. Now that you know about me, let's start the story.
