****FLASHBACK****

It was my first day of school. I was real nervous, but at least I had my best friend Sodapop. We walked in and immediately Soda started talking to this one kid(steve)and they started talking about cars. I decide to walk up and introduce myself.

Hi im Carmine Curtis.  And the boy your talkin to is my twin brother Sodapop. What's your name?

Im Steve Randle. I got another buddy in the first grade his name Keith.

Oh wow, I got a brother named Darry in the second grade.

I bet there friends.

yea i bet so too.

We spent the rest of the day talkin and laughing. From that day on the three of us were best friends. When my mom came to pick us up we begged her to let Steve come over. And thankfully she said yes. That was our first playdate. That day Darry came home with a new friend, it was Keith. It was the boy Steve was talkin about in class. They also came in with another little boy, he had a tanned complexion and these huge black puppy dog eyes.

Hey, guys, this is my buddy Keith, and this is his friend Johnny.

Hey yall im Keith, but you can call me Twobit. And this is Johnny he lives across the street from me. He's gonna be starting school with you guys tomorrow.

My brother and I introduced ourselves and we all began to talk. My mother then came in holding a newborn Ponyboy in one hand and a batch of cookies in the other.

Two weeks later a new boy joined Two-bits class. His name was Dallas Winston. He was real tough for only bein in the first grade. He even hit some kid on the playground. My mother wasn't the fondest of Dallas, but he grew on her and she grew to love him. The day we took that picture was the day the gang was formed. Soda, Steve, and I were making funny faces, Darry was holding Ponyboy, And Twobit,Johnny, and Dally were smiling. That was the first time I had seen Dally smile. I love that picture. Whenever I see it all I could do is smile. It reminds me of a simpler time. A time where we really didn't worry about socs. Or a time where my oldest brother wasn't working three jobs. And a time where our parents were still around.

I sure do love that photo. Soda said snapping me out of my gaze.

yeah me too. I replied. After looking at a few more photos and telling some more stories the gang left and we went to bed. I really did love the gang. They are my family.
