Soulmates and soulmarks

This is a story I started on a while ago, so the first four chapter are a few months old. I just felt like posting this story, and hopefully I'll continue it in the future! 😊

Everyone has a soul mark. Some may have two or even three.
Those who have more than one soulmark (multi-marked) will gain a special ability/trait when they meet their soulmate. The ability is far lesser than what a mutant could be capable of, but it can still impress.
Examples: creating small flames, touching fire and being fine, controlling small bodies of water, ice breath, extra good vision/hearing, night vision. Simple stuff.

A mutant (aka someone already born with/is magic/has inhuman abilities) can not have more than one soul mark.

A soul mark starts off just black, looking more like a tattoo, but when a person meets their soulmate the mark will gain colour.
The marks of the two soulmates are placed on the same spot. E.x if a person has a mark on their left shoulder, their soulmate will have their mark on the left shoulder too.

One's own mark will appear in the palm, with colour, of a person's hand, which only oneself can see.
Many have chosen to use their soul mark as a sorta logo/recognition.

If two soulmates, who haven't found each other yet, are in a radius of 50 m, their mark will begin to either burn or glow, depending on how good hearted one's soulmate is. The mark can also feel like it's pulsating.
Marks are usually a mix of all three (burning, pulsating and glowing) with either burning or glowing seemingly dominating the mark.
Many see this as a way to judge their soulmate before they really get to know each other.
Burning marks doesn't necessarily mean that your soulmate is straight up evil. It can mean that they've had bad experiences, a rough and hard life, are selfish etc. It's hard to not see a burning mark as evil, but when it comes down to most people, it means that they've had some influences in life that made them like this.
Glowing marks doesn't necessarily means that your soulmate is the kindest person. It can mean they're happy in life, have changed many people's lives (even without knowing), helpful etc. Now it may seem that glowing marks only symbolises good, but people can have glowing marks without having done anything special.
In the end it comes down to the person's mentality.
