I'm not going to lie, I'm a little nervous to go to school today. I'm sure word will start going around about Grayson and I being official. Everyone will be looking at me, talking about me, focusing on me. I hate attention, Grayson's lucky that I really like him or I wouldn't go through the drama at school.
Emma was asleep last night when I got home so I still need to tell her. I'm sure she'll be so happy, she'll probably scream.
I'm more nervous, now that we're official I know he's going to start asking more questions about my boxing job... I've managed to just avoid the topic or switch the conversation. I know he can tell I shut down when he brings it up so he hasn't been pushing it, but I feel even worse lying to him about it now. But family first and if Grayson finds out... I don't even want to think how he'll react and what he'll want to do about it.
He hasn't even pretended to bring up the whole throwing up thing and I know he's been dying to since that hooky day from school weeks ago but he's kept his promise the best anyone could. I've made sure to not do it around him again and I'm going to keep it that way.
I slip on a grey pair of leggings, a black zip-up jacket and some black tennis shoes and call it a day. Mother isn't home tonight in time for work but it always depends if she gets back really late tonight or some random time during the day tomorrow. I told Grayson we could hang out today after school but I have to make sure to be home by 8pm just in case, that's the earliest chance of her arriving home and I can't risk not being here. I don't even want to think about what would happen. She hasn't said anything else about Grayson but only because she doesn't know about him. Well, she saw him that one day before we left for work so she'd recognize him. I just have to keep them apart.
I twist my hair into a bun and apply a little extra makeup, I know people will be looking at me today. I don't want to try any more than an average day but I also don't want to look like a mess, a happy medium.
"Almost ready Carter?" Emma hollers from down the hall.
"Yeah, be down in 2!" I shout back. Just a little perfume spray and few deep breaths and I quickly jump on the scale in my bathroom. I just need to gage how much I can eat today. I normally weigh myself three times a day, morning, after school and before bed. For normal people their weight can fluctuate a few pound up or down throughout the day but I can't allow that. I can't risk the chance of mine going up to 91 at work.
86.
Sweet. I can eat the lunch I packed late last night, spinach salad with a watermelon 15-calorie dressing, celery and fresh berries.
I grab my backpack and head down stairs.
"Ready?" Em is already waiting in the kitchen while typing on her phone.
"Yep." I answer while grabbing my lunch bag out of the fridge and sticking it in my backpack. "Also I have something to tell you..." I can't keep it from her now that I'm in front of her.
"What?" Em perks up a little while we head to the front door, locking her phone in anticipation of my news. "Is Grayson going to start taking us to school too so we don't have to walk anymore?" She wiggles her eyebrows at me clearly excited about less walking.
"No, he has football practice starting at 6:30 in the morning before school... so unless you want to sit at school for 2 hours...?"
"Eww no." She laughs as she locks the front door behind us.
"Well, if you change your mind he definitely wouldn't say no if I asked him to, since he's my boyfriend now." I say it as nonchalantly as possible but the piercing scream from Emma makes me whip my head around to look for an axe murderer or something.
