Quick Prologue:

Summers are supposed to be thrilling and joyful, mine was opposite. I have not once had a fun summer since I could remember due to my weight issues. Apparently nowadays if you’re fat, you’re not cool or interesting at all. It’s ridiculous right? This summer was no different. I was going to be stuck in this house all alone while my parents and brother were out of town. I was actually wrong; this summer might have just changed me.

All that would run through my mind was the snickering behind my back, the pranks pulled on me throughout my life, the disappointment from my mother and much more. It wasn’t simple, but it was working; I ate correctly and exercised my butt off.

All my summer was, was healthy foods and sweats dripping from my forehead and everyday was an improvement.

I lost weight.

Chapter 1:

My eyes shot open and a grin began to spread across my face. All that ran through my mind was this summer I reached my goal and I am finally good enough for society. Years and years of being a chubby person had gotten me nowhere and have also not gotten me very much friends.

I jumped out of my bed happily and walked over to my closet. Deciding on a simple t-shirt and skinny jean I waltzed over to the shower.

Finally this year I will be known and noticed, maybe, hopefully. It feels as if it’s too good to be true. My parents were always disgusted with my looks, they have told me before they are embarrassed of me. It did hurt being told that, but being me I put it aside. My brother, Eric, was the only one in the house and in this world to tell me I’m beautiful. Having him as an older brother has saved me from self-harming…

The hot beads of water began to pour down onto my back. Today my parents and Eric are coming back from their trip. I know they will be in shock; then I will have their love and approval. I stepped out of the shower and dried myself and looked at myself in the fogged mirror. I lifted my left hand and wiped it.

Only to reveal my new face; the double chin I previously had was now gone and the chubby cheeks were now slim. I’m glad to say, I feel pretty now.

I began to blow dry my long curly hair. I have always loved my hair, it has always been a long length and in proper condition. Once I was done with my hair and make-up I put on my clothes.

Buying all of these clothes wasn’t a hassle due to my mom’s personal dresser or whatever.

After a while of laying on my bed, I heard the front door unlock and me head snapped up.

They’re here.

“Charlie, we’re home!” I heard Eric yell.

My mom’s soft spoken voice came to my ears. “Don’t wake the beast; she’s probably still slobbering in bed.”

I heard footsteps coming up the stairs. I was nervous; I can’t help but shake a little. What my mom just said struck my heart. Although I have heard it plenty, it still hurts.

As I sat on my bed, the door swung open.

Eric’s figure stood there, paralyzed.

I turned my head to look at him and smiled. “Hey Eric, I’ve missed you!” I bounced up from my bed and wrapped my arms around his neck.

“Ch-Ch-Charlie…” He stuttered as he pulled away. “What happened to you?” He gazed at my body.

I smiled. “I lost weight, Eric!”
