A/N: In this AU the public were made aware of SHIELD at the end of Winter Soldier and HYDRA was also effectively destroyed but HYDRA itself did not become public knowledge.

Elodie.

Somewhere, through a place of murky darkness and shadows I heard my name being called.

ELODIE.

The call seemed to become more urgent and I dragged myself through the echoes, a pain beginning to radiate as light began to chase the shadows away.

ELODIE YOU HAVE TO WAKE UP!

I started, eyes ripping open and head surging up as reality hit me like a truck. Instantly a sharp throb rang though my head, making me wince and curse, slumping back to the position I had originally been in- head hung low.

I went to rub my forehead with my hands, but a sharp clink sounded and resistance met me as I tried to pull my hands forward from where they were ....

From where they were tied behind me.

"Oh f#cks sake."

I tried to shuffle and move my feet which were sparking from pins and needles, but they too were bound forcing me into a kneeling position against a metal post.

I blinked, eyes burning from the bright light on my face in a dim space.

Blinking several times more, my eyes quickly adjusted and I looked toward the light, and almost screamed.

There- hanging from a web was spiderman. The head avenger.

I shrank back, and started rattling my chain. Oh no no no not the avengers SHIT. My mom was a good teacher but she had never taught me how to deal with enhanced beings.

"Let me go! I don't give a sh!t what that woman said I'm a f#cking human I HAVE RIGHTS."

I struggled faster, trying to wrench my hands free. The pain of my skin getting crushed and pulled by the cold metal was background to the fear I felt as the superhero moved with unnatural ease from his upside down position and onto the floor in absolute silence.

The Avengers had a nasty habit of killing first and asking questions later to people of my profession and moral compass.

The man, clearly muscular padded forward on silent feet making me shy back.

Little voice where are you? HELP ME. Make the ground disappear again! I shouted into the hollow void in my mind.

No answer came.

I struggled again, so hard I felt warm liquid start dripping from my wrists as I kept trying to wrench them free from the manacles.

I felt like crying, but gulped back tears as the Avenger stepped into spitting distance and squatted down in front of me, the strange arachnid mask watching me completely still.

Mirroring his actions I became motionless, staring in terror at the black marks where I knew his eyes must be behind.

Jeez Ell calm down behind that mask he's just a person. I told myself. And you know at least 102 ways of incapacitating a person.

Not when their an enhanced. Another part of me quailed, effectively rendering my self-coaching useless.

"Please let me go." I whispered, pressing myself against the post as Spiderman leaned forward, the masks eyes narrowing.

My breathe hitched as I stuttered, "I haven't even done anything wrong. Like sure I tried sneaking into some guys apartment but I didn't mean to do anything to him- and he tried to shoot me. And it was YOUR people who are trying to make me homeless by shipping me off to some random planet just because of some energy trace or whatever."
