Suddenly the air chilled and goosebumps crawled down Sam's spine. He puffed out a small cloud of air and it hung in front of his face.
"Hello? Is anyone there?"
He gently laid down Colby and saw their flashlights still on, abandoned in the kitchen.
He followed the small beams to the corner of the room by his backpack. He crept along slowly, his eyes still hadn't adjusted. Then he felt something roll into the back of his foot and he let out a yelp.
"What the fu..?"
It was his flashlight.
Sam turned back towards the kitchen. Where one of the flashlight beams blinked. Sitting, crumpled in the corner of the kitchen were two small feet, a faded white dress, and a small porcelain face framed by jet black hair.
"A-Allison?"
He backed away slowly.
"No. No this can't be happening. You're a doll!"
His voice got louder and more frantic but he couldn't look away.
"And..And dolls eyes DON'T glow," he pointed out.
She giggled and her head rolled upwards, facing him, her eyes locking him in a trance as she sang.
Duérmete niño
Sleep my baby
Duérmete ya
Sleep, baby, do
Que viene el Coco
The Boogeyman's coming
Y te comería
And he will eat you
Sam stared her down, in the low light from the flashlight he himself seemed to belong on the island of the dolls. His hair was dirty, pasted to his head by sweat. All the colour was drained from his face so he was ghostly pale, like porcelain. Except for the deep red circles around his eyes, rubbed raw by hot tears.
"What do you want from me?"
His voice was deadly calm.
"My best friend is dead."
"What. More. Do. You. Want."
The porcelain cracked around her gray lips, almost into a smile.
I can save him
Sam heard her voice in his head, it was cold and sad and empty.
She giggled.
So is yours.
He clenched his jaw.
"What will it cost?"
Her eyes dimmed and their black pools seemed to suck him in as she whispered.
Everything.
"I'll do anything." His voice cracked, "Please."
She crawled towards him, porcelain scraping on wood as her body contorted and then finally collapsed in his arms, much like Colby.
Good.
His vision swam and the last thing he saw was her staring up at him before everything went black.Sorry this chapter was so short, and sorry I haven't updated in a while but now we're on lockdown so I have no excuses.
