"Why are you crying?" Lan WangJi asked his lover as he continued to feed him.

"I just miss them already that's all," Wei Ying replied, still trying to smile with glassy eyes so as not to worry Lan Zhan.

"You don't have to cover up your sadness," the Lan continued to feed the younger one undisturbed. He probably shouldn't have said that, because then the quiet sobbing turned into heartbreaking crying.

Lan WangJi was a little overwhelmed with the unusual situation, he had never really comforted anyone.

All he remembered was when his and Lan XiChen's mother died and he really cried for the first time. Lan XiChen still smiled for him to give him security. For this he took his little brother in his arms protectively, hummed a little and stroked the dark, long hair, although he himself felt like crying.

Only when Lan Zhan really thought about it did he realize how strong his brother was at that time. He was so young and yet he was more responsible than anyone his age could have been.

Somehow, he now felt guilty about giving XiChen such burdens.

Because his younger I refused to eat, speak, he even to do any activitys. Everything had to be done by Lan XiChen himself and he didn't even complain. How ungrateful he was when his brother was still preparing food for him and he just wasn't eating it.

He would apologize to him later and say thank you, he decided.

But before the Lan could do this, he had to calm Wei WuXian and maybe even make him laugh. He loved that happy, cheeky, carefree laugh.

      ● FLASHBACK ●

"Brother are you not coming?", 10-year-old Lan WangJi asked his big brother, who just really didn't know anymore how to explain to him that their mother had died.

Xichen didn't want to just say 'our mother is dead'.

The Lan brothers were allowed to visit their mother every month, and 4 years after her death, Lan WangJi sat outside the door.

"I explained it to you so often, WangJi. Mom lives somewhere else now, it is very far away, we cannot go there", even the 13-year-old XiChen had trouble keeping his smile. He always wanted to smile for his brother so he didn't have to be afraid.

Fortunately, Lan Qiren came into the room.

"WangJi please come with me," the grown man said.

"But I wanted to visit mother," the 10-year-old said quietly.

"Mother is not at home," he lured his nephew. The two disappeared into another room.

"Well WangJi listen to me okay?", He went to eye level with the boy "You know what death means right?" Lan Qiren wanted to know.

Lan WangJi nodded, "That means the person will never come back," he said.

"Exactly and you know, your mother unfortunately died 4 years ago. Mom will not be back," he said sadly and stroked his nephew's head, who then began to cry in front of him for the very first time.

When he heard the soft cry, Lan XiChen decided to follow his two family members. In the other room he saw his little brother crying on the floor.

Had their uncle scolded him for always going to their mother's house? No, Lan Qiren looked far too calm for that, and Lan WangJi would not cry.

//It doesn't matter why he cries// the 13-year-old thought and hugged the younger boy and comforted him.
The oldest then also sat on his knees with his two boys.

"I told him the truth. He gets sick when he waits in the cold outside and not only for 5 minutes considering how stubborn your brother is," he whispered into Lan XiChen's ear, who then Lan Zhan just hugged harder.

And after all the years in which the older brother hid his sadness, he had to cry now.

that the siblings fell into each other's arms crying which was a rare situation even then. So Lan Qiren just let them stay together. They even fell asleep like that.

The next morning, the two woke up together in a bed at 5:00 a.m.

They have never really slept together in one bed before, but Lan WangJi noticed how nice it was to cuddle with his brother. Maybe he already had a slight gay tendency there.

Lan XiChen got up, but his little brother didn't. He lay there motivationless with an empty look.

"WangJi it's time to get up," he giggled, thinking that maybe his brother was just lazy today.

However, this was not the case, now it was every morning like this. The 10-year-old even refused to eat.
Lan XiChen was very worried, what was wrong with him? It was also strange that WangJi had become very clingy to his family. He never was like that, and he didn't like being hugged very much or physical contact in general, but that suddenly changed. Especially in the presence of his older brother.

But when XiChen put everything together, everything became clear to him.

The loss of his mother must have made him fear for loss! That would also explain why WangJi has become so clingy.

From that moment on, Lan XiChen began to spend much more time with his little brother, teaching him things, for example, or playing board games with him. He showed him that he was always there for him. When he called for him, XiChen left everything behind to go to him.

So the clingy got better.WangJi started eating normally again and studied hard.

And just because he now knew that whenever he needed his brother, he was there for him and that relaxed him.

      ●FLASHBACK END●

While Lan Zhan was so lost in thoughts, Wei WuXian was still sniffing quietly, leaning against his husband.

Lan WangJi stroked the body on the shoulders and head to calm him down. It seemed like the buzz always calmed Wei Ying down, so he tried and in fact it had a good effect.

Lan WangJi laid his throw over his partner so that he felt more secure. He hadn't expected that the younger one would even fall asleep, but at least he had stopped crying.

       "I'm always there for you,"
                 “我一直在你身邊”,

Lan Zhan whispered, kissing Wei WuXian's forehead.
