After a few days the homesickness was quickly gone during the day. You just couldn't remind him of Yunmeng, because then Wei Ying became sad.

Lan WangJi loved the cheeky giggle of the younger one and he wanted to protect that giggle and laugh. So he had to keep everything away from him that made him sad.

"Hmm it tastes almost as good as that from Yunmeng, you improved eh?" Wei WuXian nudged his husband with a giggle.

"Don't talk about Yunmeng," Lan WangJi put another mouthful.

"Eh? That was a compliment!" Wei Ying enthused.

Lan Zhan was known for not speaking uselessly and answering it was useless for him. He had told the younger what he wanted and he didn't want to discuss it. The Lan had found his way with Wei WuXian.

"Wei Ying", he just said the name.

"Yes?", He was quickly curious and no longer stubborn. Lan Zhan just put his index finger on his own lips.
Wei Ying just gumbled and continued to eat.

He just didn't understand Lan Zhan. He just wanted to praise the food, what was so bad about it? And what was so bad when he talked about Yunmeng?

"Lan Zhan, Lan Zhan!" Wei WuXian said. His husband reacted immediately, he was a little startled when a drawing was held right in front of his face. The drawing showed him. Without saying anything, he took the paper. He put it where it was safe and continued playing on his guqin.

"Can't I get a thank you? Do you like it?", The younger one fell cross-legged next to him.

"Yes, I like it. Thank you," He was also known for just showing few emotions and they were so unnoticeable that only Lan XiChen could see the minimal changes.

Then one evening the couple lay in bed together and Wei Ying told a lot from Yunmeng how he spent his childhood there.

How he first had to get to know Jiang Cheng and then always had a lot of fun with him.

He sounded totally enthusiastic, for him it was a nice childhood there, with playmates, a home and the most delicious food.

Lan WangJi's grip on Wei WuXian's waist grew stronger.

He may sound totally happy now as he talks about the good memories, but te older one knew that he would certainly wake him up at night because he was homesick.

"Don't talk about it," he said again. Somehow that made Wei Ying sad, he just wanted to tell his husband about his childhood. "It will make you cry again later," he continued.

Is that it?

No, he not only cried at night because of his adoptive family, no, the young person often cried because of his real family, his birth mother, his birth father. He didn't have many memories of them, but it wasn't a good feeling to lose his parents.
