Before I could process everything Gee had said, Lancy had suddenly stood up as if he heard something, then he started running. Then Gee had automatically went after him.
Without really thinking, I instinctively ran after them, too, and I realized malayo na sila sa akin.
Hinabol ko pa rin sila and I finally saw them. Gee had already caught Lancy and was holding his collar, but they were in the middle of the road.
Seeing Lancy this way, everything suddenly clicked. It was liked déjà vu. This was exactly how I saw him that day.
He really is that dog from last year. The dog that I saved. The dog that I sometimes regretted saving before. Kasi because of him, everything changed. My world was turned upside down and I even lost the will to live.
But then suddenly, I could hear it from afar. A car.
A car was coming, and from the sound of it, coming fast. Fast right to Lancy and Gee.
I started running again. I knew what was happening. This has happened before. It was weird but suddenly, I have all these resolution in my head.
I knew what could happen to me. I knew that I was lucky the first time and doing it again, I might not be as lucky.
But this was Gee and Lancy. And I'm ready to do it again. For them.
Even if it means risking everything.
Everything happened so fast.
I could hear the car coming closer fast and I jumped towards the two of them and hugged them to myself, trying to shield them with my body.
And then, it all started coming back to me.

Flashback
I had been going home from school. For a change, I left the school early--I didn't really have a reason, I really didn't know myself why I felt like going home already.
Nakababa na ako nun sa babaan ng bus and was walking towards our subdivision. I didn't have my car today since I had it checkep up.
As I was turning to a corner to where my subdivision was, I saw the kid playing with the ball at the side of a busy road. I already had a bad feeling about it, so I went and approached him.
I asked him where his parents were and tinuro niya yung convenience store malapit dun. I told him not to play there and na bumalik na dun and he did start walking back towards there. I watched him go in and before I started walking towards my subdivision again.
But before I could go far, narinig ko yung tunog ng bola and I looked back, only to see the kid and a dog in the middle of the road. And next thing I knew, I was already running towards them.
