Title prompts anyone?

"Fucking snitch." John huffed, trailing behind Jaren in the quiet forest. The occasional remark from John, and their footsteps, were the only sounds that could be heard. "We never should've-"

"Oh enough already!" Jaren interrupted, "I've listened to you complain for like 3 hours..."

John only grumbled to himself in response. He watched as Jaren shook his head with a halfhearted chuckle. "Well, excuse me for complaining about our situation." he continued, wiping his forehead with the back of his hand. "Running from Imperialis soldiers was not how I wanted to spend my Friday night."

Jaren hummed, looking up at the sky. "You've just got to look at the bright side."

  "Which is?"

"Look! A falling star!" he gasped, stopping his companion in his path.

John scoffed, "Isn't it a shooting star?"

"Whatever it is," Jaren paused, glaring at John, "People say it brings good luck."

"I could use a bit of that right now." John stated, glancing at his surroundings.

They were left in near silence once more, this time walking side by side. The wide river flowed smoothly, and for a moment, John thought about jumping in.

The rustling of leaves in the distance caught their attention. Jaren was the first to look back when they heard the whinnying of horses. Yelling followed, most definitely coming from Imperialis soldiers.

"Not good." John shouted, taking in the severity of it all.

"Yeah, really not good." Jaren agreed before turning quickly. "Run, John!" he yelled, trying to create distance between them and the soldiers.

The galloping of the horses and the howling of the dogs were approaching. By the shouts of the soldiers, they knew they had found someone.

As the two ran further, the water beside them grew rougher. The thrashing of the water and the likely jagged rocks beneath ruled out the possibility of swimming to the other side.

"Just follow the river, it'll lead us to Tutum!" Jaren yelled once more, waiting for John to catch up. "We can cross when the water's calmed down."

"Yeah? And when do you suppose that'll be?" John retaliated, glancing at the wild current. "It's not gonna slow down anytime soon, and we don't have that kinda time to wait for it."

He was right, and Jaren knew it. The soldiers were getting close, they could actually see the horses gaining on them when they had the chance to look back.

John turned his head, catching the sight of it all. There weren't many, but they would never make it if they got caught. The echoing of the water grew louder inside is mind, drowning out all other thoughts.

"Watch out, man!" he warned, pulling Jaren back with his hand.

They had found themselves at the edge of a waterfall, with no proper way down.

"Holy shit!" Jaren cried, stepping back from the ledge. Water droplets sprinkled his face as he looked back at their attackers.

"Maybe we could climb down?" John asked, the adrenaline causing his hands to shake.

"No way, one slip up and you're dead." Jaren replied, his breath short from the running. "We gotta jump."

  "What?"
