Quietly they shuffled into the bathroom, feeling very chastised by Jenna's mom. They had been told I'm no uncertain terms to brush their teeth "or else", and as they took turns McKenna had an idea. "We should do Bloody Mary!" She told the others. "You know, that thing where you light a candle in the bathroom and turn all the lights off and say it three times!" Ella was about to talk when Jenna interrupted. "That's a bad idea, what if mom catches us?" She protests. "Well what's the worst that's gonna happen if she does?" Ella points out. McKenna nods and eventually they get Jenna to agree. So they sneak downstairs and get a candle from the drawer. Lighting it with matches, they place it on the vanity marble and turn the lights off. The candlelight dances across their faces, illuminating half of them and casting a warm, golden glow about the room. McKenna nudged Ella who shook her head quickly. Jenna glanced at McKenna then down at the ground, effectively forcing her to open her mouth. Voice wavering, she spoke the first Bloody Mary. The temperate lowered but she took no notice, too scared. She spoke the second Bloody Mary, her voice trembling, but by the third she was confident. Her voice was strong and clear when she said the final Bloody Mary. Instantly the candle puttered out. The girls screamed and stampeded out the door, turning the lights on. Scrambling through the doorframe they all went into Jenna's room. But Ella was frozen in place as soon as she looked at the mirror.

Her reflection looked back at her, but it's eyes were black and its fingers ringed with red. And then the reflection moved. Ella screamed, and the other girls looked and screamed, but her reflection just grinned like a maniac. Her smile was too wide. Everything about her was malicious and evil and demonic. Then it began to speak. "You know you deserve this" of hissed, and Ella cried out and began to cry. "You know what you did," and it continued to taunt Ella. Then it raised its red fingers with claw-like nails and clenched its fists. Ella screamed. And a trail of blood began to run down her nose. The monster just cackled and dragged its fist down. Ella began to crumple to the floor in front of the mirror. There were tears in her eyes and blood had stained her clothes and skin. Her eye sockets now heard nothing but shredded material and blood and gore and they were fountains of blood. Ella was convulsing and shaking, trying to clutch at her eyes but desperately trying to keep herself from touching the open wounds. Then she passed out. Her convulsions stopped. Bloody Mary just grinned at her work, and through pure will shattered the mirror. A bloody, red handprint appeared on the surface of the glass- from within the mirror. And by the time McKenna, Jenna and her mom got upstairs Ella breathed no more.
