"I don't drink," I told you.

You seemed to be amused with my answer.
As if you weren't expecting it.

"That's weird,"
you quipped, pursing your lips.
"But you were drinking something
at the party, didn't you?"

I nodded, "Iced tea."

Your mouth formed an 'o', nodding at me.

"It's a relief that you don't,
so I won't have any problems
guarding you at the party tomorrow."

"Why would you guard me?"
I arched an eyebrow.
"And who said I'm coming to that party?"

You lifted your eyebrows,
"I thought you like parties?"

"I do," I replied.
"But my parents don't."

"Strict parents, hm?"

I just nodded at you.
I was never ashamed that
my parents were strict, anyway.

"That's a bummer.
I wanted you to be my date."

"You see, I don't do dates."

You just gave me
an amused chuckle.

"Yeah, let's see about that, Lalisa."

A walking red-flag, that's what you are.
I should know better than to let myself
dive right into your honey-laced lies.
