After an hour of rocking Rodney and singing him a 60s playlist on in the background and treasuring the moment she has free on her own, little Rodney is finally settled. She looks up at the clock on the wall which reads 7pm and plucks up the urge to bath him.
"I think it's bath time for you darling." She speaks to Rodney in a sweet tone, smiling and making her way into the kitchen. Joan normally baths Rodney in the sink because the natural bath is too big and she unwraps her little boy and tests the water to see if it's cool enough yet. "Just right." She mutters watching over her sleepy baby. "I wonder how Del's date is going on."
After a few moments of indulging the moment, she's soon talking about the new life she's going to have in Devon. It's all she can think about, getting a way from slaving away for Reg.
"And we can always go on visits, your big brother will be a millionaire by the time we've settled in, I bet." She speaks to him, completely unaware that Del has came back from another disastrous date of him cocking up things. Del listens in against the door, frowning with dread. He soon wishes he never had come home and walks back out the door in anguish. Soon enough Joan is startled by the sound of the door banging close and her heart races. She quickly gets Rodney out of the sink and wraps his wolly blanket around him before taking the risk to open the door. "Hello? Anyone there?" She calls out in a frightening tone, only to notice no one's back yet. She sighs in relief.
