Del bursts in with no reply and faces downwards heading towards his bedroom in anger. "Del, you were gone along time. How was your date?" But Del wasn't gone along time, was he. She is perplexed by Del's sudden behaviour. "I take it didn't go well then?" Soon enough she remembers the door slamming and becomes worried.

"Del? Darling? What's wrong?" She asks her teenager. For a slight moment there's silence, Del struggles to bring words out of his mouth. "Why didn't you tell me you were moving to Devon?" She sighs. "So it was you who slammed the door?" "Why didn't you tell me, mum?" Del asks again, with a stiff in his throat. Joan swallows a lump in her throat. "It was meant to be a surpise." She makes up an excuse. "A surpise?" Del exclaims. "No I didn't mean it like that! Keep it down Rodney's asleep." She whispers in urge. "Look I'm sorry. I know I should've told you." She walks over and sits on Del's bed. "It's just nice to know the thought of getting away from here, you know?" "It's not that I don't want you to go, it's just, how am I supposed to see Rodney or you? Instead I have to be stuck here with these grumpy old gits!" Del moans, burying his face under the pillow. "I thought you were gonna be alright Del. With you're trading life and a new girl." She explains, placing a hand on his leg for comfort but Del stays silent in sulking. "I have an idea! Come with us! Listen I'll talk to Freddie and try to talk some sense into him" she insisted which eventually makes Del come out of his little shell. "Are you sure, mum? He might not react good" Del asks. "Oh del, well I've got to have you with me! I can't make you stay with those cranky gits!" She tells Del, feeling bad. "But I can't tell him yet, just wait a couple days, okay?" The pair cuddle together. "Oh this is going to be so exciting!" She cries out.
