6 months later
"Don't forget about me," Vlad says while holding me against his chest, "write at least once a month, alright?"
I nod softly before picking up my baggage and giving him a wide grin, "I could never forget about you, idiot. Make your dreams come true and become a rockstar. I'll be sending you postcards from every country I visit, I promise."
I've been clean for almost seven months now. I can't be happier and prouder of myself. I'm finally living. I'm finally doing what I've always wanted to do.
I hope you're proud of me, Eva, I think to myself while holding a small pendant that used to belong to my best friend.
I'm waiting for my flight to Italy, where I got a translating job in a news agency and where I'm planning to start my small European journey.
"Have a safe trip, beautiful, don't forget to send me letters like you promised", I smile happily when I see his message.
There are days when I regret letting him go and when I want to do nothing but book a ticket to Moscow and see him.
I guess I will always be drawn to him and there is nothing I can do about that. But I must find myself before I pave my way into his arms again.
The sun will rise, and we will try again.
